if we weren't so hell bent on the fact that we "have the right" and everyone went out and bought guns, we wouldn't have this issue to begin with. you would rarely even have to worry about "armed" robbers as much as we do now as well.
people quote the 2nd amendment like they know what the fuck they're talking about. the 2nd amendment was written in a far different day and age where lifestyles were entirely different. the main purpose of the 2nd amendment was so that the people of us could protect themselves from invaders. you couldn't pick up a cell phone and call the police like you can now. the other purpose of the 2nd amendment was so that during times of war, the people could easily be formed into a militia using weapons they already owned.
let's fast forward 250 some years now and realize that you're all gun carrying idiots. the only reason someone has to carry a gun to "protect" themself is because the government didn't protect us by outlawing guns to begin with.
Colorado requires nothing but a 4 hour class and $80 to get a carry permit. I'm sure multiple people in that big theater had a gun. You know why nobody ran in and saved the day? I'm actually ok with small capacity pistols and shotguns that have to be kept in your house, or bolt action rifles for hunting. I own a 9mm. But there is no reason for people to have military weapons.
