I'm so old I used to jack off to the sears catalog
I used to take the train to Grand Central Station to buy Hustler from unscrupulous Arabs.

I slept over a friend's house in 7th grade and we found a trunk of his dad's old Playboys from the 70's. I made more icing than a Cinnabon.
getting my first playboy was mind blowing...made that whole sears/jcpenny catalog and the SI swimsuit issue seem extremely pedestrian in comparison...
also meant the death of watching scrambled porn as well...think that was the biggest bonus of the whole thing...
Playboy was definitely a childhood highlight, loved looking at big blond tits and giant triangular beavs. Great stuff, great memories, and adequate relief for a pre- to early teen.
Even more memorable:
The first time I laid eyes on a shaved, spread eagle Cubano Hustler centerfold.
Kids today don't really understand jerking off to a magazine because they have all kinds of nasty porn videos available at their fingertips on the internet.
But I think the magazine format was a better intro to that stuff than porn videos, because you would just see the woman herself (well, in Playboy at least), and then your imagination would do the rest.
I think a lot of the younger guys have seen so much nasty stuff by the time they actually have sex, the whole prospect of it isn't as exciting anymore.
I've actually read some things that younger men don't seem to care about sex as much as in previous generations. I have to imagine that's part of it.
There's actually a lot of research that backs that up, Todd. Porn in general is very harmful, even for older people
The only magazine I ever jerked off too was WWE's centerfold of Lita.
By the time these kids are 22 they have already done everything there is to do. Little left to their imagination. So life is a big bore and why so many are on anti-depressants so early in life.

sorry Farty, but the party isn't in this thread either.

Me- I an OK with Playboy magazine, they did some breakthrough stuff, cutting edge, but also pushed the fake tits blonde bimbo image too much. Also too much air brushing on the models. Hope they stay afloat.I guess Las Vegas is not much of a market for them? -DR
2025 UPDATE-
Playboy plans to relocate its global headquarters from Los Angeles to Miami Beach and open a Playboy club there. The Miami Beach headquarters at the top of a luxury office building will include studios to support Playboy's "growing creator network" and the club will have a restaurant as well as a members-only section inspired by the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles, the company said Thursday in a statement.

Playboy needs to accept that it's obsolete, and just shut down.
It was an interesting concept at the time -- a classy magazine, tastefully displaying beautiful naked women, without any overtly sexual element to the pictures. It also had numerous articles aimed at men, some of which had a sexual theme, but always from an informative viewpoint, and again tastefully done.
Hugh Hefner was also the iconic father of the whole thing.
Now Hefner is dead, internet porn has taken over, and the entire concept of Playboy has fallen by the wayside. Men can read whatever type of articles they want by just googling what they find interesting, and they can see naked women by googling that as well, and not having to rely on any particular site or service. In addition, sites like Onlyfans now give you an opportunity to actually interact with the girls you're seeing, rather than just seeing their picture in a magazine.
The Playboy brand is meaningless to most young people, and even most older dudes have moved past it (or have gotten too old to care about ogling young women anymore).
I don't know why they still bother.
Their last hurrah (while Hef was alive) was renting out the Playboy Mansion for parties, where partygoers were stupid enough to think they were really hanging out with Playboy models (usually just random chicks hired to be at the parties).
Every red blooded male had one or two Playboys under the mattress or tucked away in the back of a closet.
Almost like a rite of passage, it's terrible for society that today's youth have unlimited access to hardcore porn.
Really wonder if it's a contributing factor to lower sex rates amongst teens; if you're primed for gang bangs and shit the girl in the neighborhood known for giving a quick handy holds little appeal.

This graph, from 1989 to 2018, tells a lot of the story:
Young men were managing to get laid most easily in 1997, with only 9% of men 18-30 reporting no sex in the past year. After a weird spike after that (perhaps due to the availability of internet porn?), the numbers got better again, and by 2008, the numbers were similar to 1997. Then a change happened, and young men were increasingly reporting no sex, to where it was 28% in 2018. I bet it's even higher in 2025.
The biggest change in 2008 was the proliferation of smartphones. I really think they have made young people antisocial, and there started to be less and less desire to want to date and go out in the world. Around the same time, there was a general increase in extended adolescence behavior -- young people living with their parents well into their 20s, and also expressing little desire to drive when old enough to do so.
When I was in high school during the second half of the 1980s, guys were universally looking forward to do things -- being able to drive, and losing their virginity. Neither seems important anymore to most high school boys.
You'll see from the chart that 18% of young women were going without sex in 2018, compared to 28% of men. This difference clearly shows that women have gotten pickier regarding mates, or alternatively, young men today are less appealing to young women than in the past. It seems to be a combination of a small percentage of the guys getting most of the girls, as well as older guys being seen as more appealing to young women than they were before.
For what its worth, Penthouse magazine is still online- https://penthouse.com/
