You lose money gambling?
What a fucking loser!
Try winning 150 btc in a 24 hour period, and then losing them playing 30-70 btc pots HU PLO....and that's when they were worth $300 each.
BALLIN'!!
The only thing worse than a massive loss is a massive loss with a hangover. The kind of hangover where you open your eyes that next day and it all hits you at once. Life was good the previous day and you were up big. Then 11 pm hits and drink number 10 kicks in and you are inspired to run it up even more. Next thing you know it is 4 am and you shot off all your winnings and now down about the same you were up. You stumble back up to your room a broken person and hit the mini bar in attempt to numb the pain. You wake up the next morning with a raging headache, and you realize it will take a full day for the hangover to go away and many days after that to get over the pain of last nights fail. You also realize you have two or three more nights in Vegas and there is no flights that you can take to leave early.

I feel better today after a night's sleep. Yesterday was flat out awful detoxing and yes, I was probably 14 drinks down when I hopped in my Uber leaving the casino. I literally played for 5 hours until I went on my Roulette run, then in the span of a half hour it was all gone. I see why casinos give you chips, if those were $100 bills I never would have risked it.
At my peak, I had $11,000 in chips. I mean, that is a shit load of cash I don't care who you are. Let me put it in perspective, I could have rented out a room for a month at the RITZ Carlton for $11,000 in downtown Chicago. I had a friend from overseas last February and that is what they charged him for a month when he was on business.
I am into my second bloody mary right now still getting over it. They say James Gandolfini would violently slap his head on the set of the Sopranos when he would screw up a line. I honestly see why he did that. It's not because he flubbed a line, its for shit he did the night before that came over him.
In my mid 20s I once took fifty dollars, ran it to 45k, and then lost it all back within a 10 hour period.
I brought 3-4k to Vegas which was a good chunk for me at the time. I was down to my last 50 bucks and depressed. I decided to play keno at the bar and hit for 2k. I then took the 2k and ran it up to 15kish playing roulette. Took that and ran it up to 45 ish playing blackjack. I then lost it all back within hours. It took me months to get over that and to this day it still pisses me off. Not because of the money now, but what could have been a great story, is now a story of complete fail.

I know the feeling of a massive hangover after a massive loss all too well. Came home once completely blacked out and shot off 30k playing 50-100 lhe. Didn't even know it was possible to shoot off 300 big bets in an lhe session, have never done any close to that before. In this spot, I think you need to start drinking right when you wake up. I called my buddy and said "come pick me up right now, we're going to the bar, I need to get drunk." At the bar I won $300 on a $1 pulltab (the max win, I think) and it actually made me angry for some reason. Like it was a slap in the face or something.
I will say this, they have a Texas Hold Em casino game that is actually quite fun and lasts a long time. I basically traded a $1,000 back and forth for like two hours. I believe at one point I might have been up by like $2,500 but I get fucking crazy and began pushing black chips every hand and it went back down to virtually even.
It's a fun game, but you play 7 cards versus 5, so the dealer can clip you time and again when you think you won. One hand I remember was pocket Jacks. I had a black chip at the bottom and raised to $400. I spiked a J on the flop and I figured I was good, then 4 hearts hit the board and the fucking dealer had q-2(h) and took the bet.
Sucked balls.
That was like 10pm, I should have left then.
Agreed on drinking right when you get up after a massive loss. I drank most of the day yesterday, and was able to get like 9 hours of sleep last night, which I needed badly. I am nursing bloody marys now, I made them very spicy to keep it slow. I am hopeful after a 4pm nap I can turn the corner and forget this experience. But yes, drinking immediately upon wake up is important after a huge loss.
Yeah, I've done the same but with even worse odds (2 pair vs likely flopped straight). I recall that in those circumstances, I used to trick myself into believing that my action of calling way behind would affect the outcome and give me a winning hand when all the cards ran out. I think behavioral pscyhologists call such thinking "illusion of control". I'm sure that a *lot* of gamblers operate based on the fallacy.
I limped in early position with QQ one time.
$1400 deep in a 2/5.
flop: 666
Guy bets out, and I jam.
he shows me 26

Such a great thread cause we have all been there. Resonates brah.
The pain of losing big.
I never bought a lottery ticket. Why do I need to pay $1 to feel disappointed when I can feel that way for free? You're just shooting off and you feel like a dope - that hurts.
If you got it in good it - doesn't hurt so much.
Everyone gambles. Every guy who opens a business. Every chef who a changes a menu. Some entrepreneur who develops a new app. Hopefully they had a reason.
You see so many young guys who want to hit it big (like the app developer) walk into the casino. They are unaware of the true cornucopia gambling opportunities in our great country.
I flipped cards and rolled dice in the pits just like everyone else. I've lost big. The only consolation was the endless free buffets your players card could buy you. Those losing sessions were usually marathons and instead of drinking I always ended up sleeping for 20 hours. Just never wanted to get up. Sleep was my escape.
I have discovered so many other ways to gamble where I at least have the consolation of feeling I have an edge. I sometimes go to Vegas and never set foot in a casino. I can feel disappointed for free and can get my gambling jones satisfied in far better ways.
i still enjoy craps. It's social and it's fast. I have no expectation of winning. It really is entertainment. Brings back a lot of memories so the nostalgia is cool. I pick the smallest table I can.
But sanlmar, I have a small bankroll and roulette gives me 35:1. Try triple witching options expiration day and find yourself a 10 cent near the money option for a company releasing earnings. See how easy that was? The biggest casino.
Move to Canada and get leveraged huge on Bitmex and gamble Bitcoin futures. To think you wanna play pai gow
Love the thread. Keep the stories comin
Sleep is actually the worst part. I woke up like at 4am and logged on to my computer to assess the bank withdraw damage. I went back to bed. But I never could get back to sleep I just kept going over the evening, again and again and again. I mean to have a pocket of pink chips and lose them all in less than an hour is just fucked up. I am better today, but I figure it will be like a month before I get over losing $11,000 in 40 minutes. You try saying, "Well if you don't gamble for a year, it would be like just losing a $1,000 a month, no big deal". That is true, that is how I am rationalizing the loss.
One thing is for certain, I am not stepping into a casino any time soon.
Btw, been at the degen gambling business a long time. Best cure I found for massive loss/hangover. Upon wake up immediately pop .5 xanax and chase it with pedialyte. Go back to sleep for few hours. After six hours, start the slow drip of beer until you pass out for the night.
Xanax and alcohol are a terrible combination and can kill you, but if you are coming down from alcohol and a massive loss and the alcohol is out of your system, it will stabilize you enough not to want to noose in the AM. The beer will carry you the rest of the way and the next day dont drink at all.
Xanax by itself in excess is the devil. I use it 3-4 times a year at most and always for the situation above or International flights when you just want to pass out.
