Regarding being over 40 and male, there are a lot of girls out there who prefer older men because the guys their age are so immature/terrible.

For these women, it's not really about looks, so you can still get a decent looking younger chick in your 40s and even early 50s, without it even being a gold-digging situation (though that happens plenty, too). These three "types" are spot on, and I've run into all three many times over.

I did notice that the distribution of these types tends to differ, depending upon location.

In most large cities and their immediate suburbs, you find a lot of Type 1s, but relatively few type 3s, and very few type 2s.

In smaller towns, there are far more type 2s and 3s.

Las Vegas is the one exception, as it seems that the younger woman/older man thing is long ingrained in the culture there, so you find a lot of type 2s and 3s there as well.

My theory on this involves the quality of young men in the environment. In larger cities, there are plenty of young men who are educated, smart, and mature for their age, so women seeking that type rarely feel the need to date outside their age group. However, in smaller towns, it's much more likely that the younger guys are immature and less sophisticated (plus there's a far smaller number to choose from, in general), thus the young women learn that they need to date older if that's what they're looking for.

Las Vegas is a different animal entirely, as I think the situation there is more cultural.

Yes, some of these female celebrities over 50 still look very good, but I tend to ignore that because:

1) They usually had a lot of work done.

and

2) Many of them were very attractive to begin with (Christie Brinkley is a good example), so most are starting from a better place than the typical woman.

I've just never really been attracted to women older than me, but I do find that I'm attracted to women my own age, even as I age myself.
