question for the UFC guys since I don't follow it very closely...is rousey just some manufactured star for UFC (who they thought was very marketable) who isn't all that great at MMA and just beat up on cupcakes?

cause it seems like she was a huge star there for a few years and now it looks like shes gonna slink into fighting obscurity and will do TV appearances and shit like that and make a ton from that...

rousey has the slickest ground game in womens mma, and is probably behind only to maia/aoki/jacare across the sport.

shes an olympic judoka. she medaled.

and then she let an LA armenian named edmond convince her she could stand, and she won a few fights because womens mma fighters are mostly garbage.

and then she got in the ring with actual legitimate standup fighters (holly and nunes) and got lost in the sauce.

we've seen this before. maia comes to mind, as ive mentioned. but her ground advantage is so massive in this sport, the hardest thing for her right now is extricating herself from the people who let her think she had a viable striking game.

once she does that and starts training with people who are going to teach her proper evasive boxing footwork and head movement, not to build off of for striking but to build off of for takedowns, she will get that belt back.

Rousey dominated an era when their weren't that many good female fighters but now their are some better ones then her at standup which isn't her strength to trade blows. All it takes is one person to come along and you might not be able to overcome them to get the belt back until they go away.

A good example is Miesha Tate who lost to Rousey twice and wasn't going to beat her in a third match imo because no matter how much Miesha improves (before she retired) she is a mismatch and solved puzzle to Rousey.

Here comes Holly Holm beating Rousey eliminating Ronda from the picture for a while giving Miesha a chance at Holm who she beat by being much smarter then Rousey was in her fight vs. Holm.

I'd love to have seen Rousey vs Holm before this fight tonight but they wanted to give Ronda the title shot instead of revenge the loss that had Rousey fought much smarter she probably could win the second time around.

Of course people also wanted the Ronda vs Cyborg super fight until it was confirmed Cyborg a cheat to eliminate this from happening.

Holm now moving up to 145 for this new women's featherweight division probably eliminates this rematch from happening along with Ronda's potential retirement unless Holm drops back to 135 again.

People will debate about her focus with movies,etc.. and I like to joke about fighters being their for a paycheck (sometimes very true) but that ain't Ronda who has that drive just needs a new training camp.

could be bullshit of course but word on the ave is shes not a lot of fun to be around and has an unfortunate habit of sitting down and crying every time she gets tagged in sparring.

but who knows, bottoming out can make someone or break someone. given her background and her pedigree, theres a real good chance she 'retires' for six months then goes on a fucking heater in late 2017.

Yea someone needs to tell ronda to actually try to use her judo to takedown her opponents and arm bar them ftw. I mean that strategy was working so well.

Ronda's refusal to do press before the fight and afterwards isn't going to do her any favors with the fans and UFC. Nobody has ever got this special treatment so if Rousey comes at UFC saying she won't do press if she does come back for another fight then UFC should just say no you must do that or gtfo.

Connor busted his ass with the press conferences for his disclosed $3 million plus all the ppv income and this should be the only pass for Ronda on that.

I was on the nunes side and thought it was fucked up that she wasn't being promoted as much, but i see his point, and now everyone does know who amanda nunes is.
