    onlinepokerreport says this:

The Ignition Casino poker page lists the same poker promotions as Bovada and its closely related site Bodog. Currently Bovada and Bodog share the same online poker player pool and it looks like this arrangement is set to continue.

The Bovada brand accepts US players, and will continue to do so under Ignition, whereas the Bodog brand is primarily used for Asian customers.
    http://www.onlinepokerreport.com/218...nition-casino/

The above is poorly written, but I think it's trying to say that Ignition will continue to share players with Bodog.

That will at least help the games somewhat, given Bodog's aggressive marketing to Asia, where there are more fish than sharks.

Still, even if true, I have to imagine that the games will seriously go downhill and there will be less of them.

The games I've been playing in the summer are significantly tougher than the ones during NFL season.

The prevailing belief for the reason of the separation is that Bovada is tired of the fish losing their rolls in poker too quickly, which actually translates into a net loss for them.

    Take this example:

Freddy Fish deposits $500 onto Bovada, and sits down at 30/60 limit holdem.

I beat Freddy on two consecutive hands and bust him. The rake is $3 each hand, so Bovada raked a whopping $6 on Freddy's deposit.

But they didn't even make $6! That's because I'm a winning player, and I am likely to cash that money out at some point soon (along with other money I've won), and they have to pay cashout fees on that.

So they actually lose money on Freddy, and they don't like that.

There is also very little upside to Freddy playing poker. Even if he goes on a heater and wins, he is still dead money, and will lose it all back very soon, if not the same night. Occasionally Freddy might take his winnings and lose it in the casino or sportsbook, but that probably isn't common. The reverse (Freddy losing his entire deposit quickly, while the money barely gets raked) is probably MUCH more the occurrence.

However, if Freddy deposits in the sportsbook or casino, he likely loses all $500 to Bovada, definitely making it worth their while. Yes, there are rare cases where Freddy hits a jackpot in the casino and cashes out, or goes on a hot run in sports and cashes out, but that is the exception. In most cases, they get his entire $500.

    That's what they want.

And as far as poker goes, if it's mainly winners with existing balances on there trading money back and forth, that's ideal for Bovada (errrr..... I mean Ignition), too.

Bovada likes it when I play Pete Pokerpro heads up, because regardless of who wins, they're raking the game and one of the two of us is cashing out that money anyway.

They hate it when I play Freddy Fish, though.

So that's what this is likely about. They want the poker product to succeed or fail on its own, not succeed at the expense of the sportsbook and casino, which it has done for a long time.

They've probably had a hard time quantifying whether the poker room has been a net positive or net negative for them (and if a net positive, it's hard to tell how much), so this is their way of protecting the golden goose (sports, casino) while separating out the questionable asset.

Of course, they are risking the possibility that the removal of the poker product will kill their overall appeal to players (both recreational and pro), as right now it's a one-stop-shop for all gambling, and soon it won't be that anymore.

However, I don't think this is as "stupid" as it appears, and in fact might be the right move business-wise.

Rather than dumping poker completely, they are separating it and making it stand on its own two feet. And if it can't, they will likely mercifully put it down like an old horse that can't run anymore.

Games are def worse in the summer than during nfl season. They start to get really good early-mid october. 4 table cap is a big part of the reason games stay pretty good along with the sb fish.

I just called ignition and they told me it's the same player pool as bodog. His their number 1-855-370-0600 if anyone wants to call them and ask questions.
I hav to agree with druff on this one(rare) they are just seperating the poker players from the sb fish and will just shut down poker 100% ifn they aren't making enough money @ 'ignition"
today is a sad fucking day.

Ok I just went over to Ignitions site and it says IGNITION CASINO has acquired Bovada Poker.. So am I missing something this looks like they are gonna have casino and sports betting at all if so then I don't see the huge downside everybody is claiming.. Should we not see the same kind of casino/sports donks dumping money into poker on Ignition that we do on Bovada?? The Casino gaming is already live they gave me free money for poker and casino just to sign up plus 100% match on BTC deposits... My guess is Sportsbook betting is coming as well..

Ya its Ignition Casino so I think the drop off will not be as big as it is being made out to be. They will still have the base of asian degens in the games making it still the best facing US option. If they don't have a sportsbook it might hurt slightly but we don't even know if that will be the case.

Bovada in the FAQ stated they are not accepting new poker customers at this time.

Are you accepting new poker players?
Unfortunately Bovada isn’t accepting new poker players at this time and the 100% Poker Welcome Bonus won’t be issued to players whom make their first deposit after August 9.
You are still eligible to receive the Sports and Casino Welcome bonuses which can be found in our promotions section.
