''Katie really started getting irritated with Tom during the second year of marriage. It was fun at first, playing a role, being a mother, being so high-profile, but Tom’s controlling ways were wearing her down and she wanted out.

She didn’t think that she could last the entire five years. However, the contract was a long and elaborate one, and had conditions that she needed to fulfill in order to walk away without substantial personal and professional damage.

That’s when her team came up with the concept of trying to nullify parts of the contract. Long story short, it didn’t work and it put Kate in a bad position. Tom now knew that she wanted out of her contract, and he was really angry. There was no way he was going to allow this young girl to make him look like a fool.

She could have walked away at that point, but she would have almost certainly lost custody of Suri. It was too much of a risk for her, and she was unwilling to leave the child behind. So she stayed.

This was all taking place around the same time that there were rumors of Kate being pregnant with another baby. Those rumors were completely false. Kate was never going to have another baby where Tom would be named the father, no matter what the possible financial incentives might be.

The ex with whom she spent some time was Chris Klein. Chris was having personal issues of his own around this time, and was hardly in a position to offer her a healthy alternative to her arrangement with Tom.

As you now know, Kate stayed in the marriage, kept up the happy couple act (remember, she is an actress) and counted the weeks and months until the contract was over.

Lots of you got this one right. GuyIncognito was first!''

Her attorneys – especially one who worked with her predecessor - think that they have been able to work around most of the restrictions in her original business agreement with her husband. She did not fulfill the terms of the contract that would maximize her payout, but she will receive a sizeable chunk of change to keep quiet about his personal life and his special relationship with another high-profile man.

Yeah, Scientology isnt a cult at all right?

    http://omg.yahoo.com/news/inside-sci...es-apart-.html

"As volunteers and members of a religious order, Sea Organization members work long hours and live communally with housing, meals, uniforms, medical and dental care, transport, and all expenses associated with their duties provided by the church," states the Scientology website. "They also receive an allowance to purchase personal items, as all of their other expenses are fully covered by the church." Minor children are permitted to voluntarily join with the consent of a parent and schooling is provided, but the children also work. However, the website emphasizes: "The Church of Scientology adheres to all child labor laws and no underage Sea Organization members are permitted to perform tasks or to work hours longer than permitted by law."

Although Scientologists deny there is any wrongdoing in relation to the group, there have been numerous reports stating that conditions for children within the organization — who, according to the Scientology website, are made to sign "a one-billion-year pledge to symbolize their eternal commitment to the religion" — are less than optimal. "Crash" screenwriter/director Haggis, who was a member of the church, has said that allegations of abuse of the children were partially behind the reason he left Scientology after 34 years. In a 26-page article in The New Yorker, he said he heard about horror stories from men and women who joined Sea Org before turning 18. “They were 10 years old, 12 years old, signing billion-year contracts — and their parents go along with this?” Haggis said. “Scrubbing pots, manual labor — that so deeply touched me. My God, it horrified me!” In the same article, a former employee claimed to have worked 15-hour days as a teenager, seeing her parents only two times between the ages of 12 and 18. Another said he earned $17 a week for his work, and resided in living quarters that were so lacking that his room didn't even have a door knob.
It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

An extremely in depth look (29 pages)...

    http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2...urrentPage=all

And this is disturbing to say the least....

    http://www.tmz.com/2012/07/04/katie-...rogation-suri/

Katie Holmes desperately wanted to save Suri from a form of interrogation practiced by the Church of Scientology that she was steadfastly against ... TMZ has learned.

Sources close to Katie tell TMZ, back in 2005 she had witnessed Tom's other kids participating in a Scientology ritual she found to be troubling ... and feared Tom would drag Suri through the same process.

Ex-Scientologists call the process "sec checking." Here's the way it works. The subject holds electrode handles on a device called an e-meter and is then asked a series of personal questions that help the Church locate "areas of spiritual distress."

    0703_the-e-meter
Some ex-Scientologists claim the questions include:

-- What has somebody told you not to tell?
-- Have you ever decided you did not like some member of your family?
-- Have you ever bullied a smaller child?
-- Have you ever lied to a teacher?
-- Have you ever done something you were very much ashamed of?
-- Have you ever refused to obey an order from someone you should obey?
-- Have you ever gotten yourself dirty on purpose?

During the process, a person called an "auditor" collects e-meter readings.

Several ex-Scientologists have come out against "sec checking," claiming it's a mild form of psychological terrorism designed, in part, to get children to report on their parents.

We're told Katie would have none of it and it is one of the reasons she broke from the Church and ultimately Tom.

My mom once had a brush with the Church of Scientology when she was going through a rough patch in her life, but quickly backed out when they laid down their rules. She told me they demand that you "clear" yourself from anyone who is not in the Church, which means disassociating yourself even from your family. Obv a total cult and the tenets have a very negative impact on family relationships. I didn't know about the child abuse but it doesn't surprise me. LOL at marrying a devout Scientologist to begin with.

    Scientology is a total cult.

I can understand how it appeals to life losers with no direction, but it amazes me how many rich/famous/powerful people it manages to ensnare.

Katie Holmes only looks good in heavy makeup.

She's 33 years old, time for Tom to get rid of her and get a younger wife.

Fortunately, he has an ironclad prenup and Katie will only get about 5% of Tom Cruise's $300 million dollar fortune.

All religions are cults. It doesn't matter if it's Scientology, Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Mormonism, Catholicism, etc.

They are all phony and just want your money.

Wow, that was the fastest divorce I've ever heard of.
Sounds like she really sneak attacked him, even using burners to talk w/the lawyers????

    http://newsroom.mtv.com/2012/07/11/k...vorce-lawyers/

Katie Holmes was not messing around when it came to her divorce from Tom Cruise.

The details behind the end of TomKat remain pretty sketchy. There are million rumors, but nothing much has been confirmed – except that the former couple reached a secretive divorce settlement in record time. But now that the dust is starting to settle, some alleged details are spilling out, including what has to be the most telling detail of all: Holmes reportedly used a disposable cell phone provided by a friend to plan and initiate her divorce from Cruise, according to a source close the divorce (via the Los Angeles Times).

Using the throwaway phone – instead of, say, her own cell phone or one of the telephones in her home – allowed her to prepare her build her legal case without Cruise or his staff discovering her plans before she was ready to act.

Of course, Holmes feeling she needed a pay-and-use phone comes with some implications. She presumably felt she was being monitored, an accusation many wouldn't consider unrealistic given the allegations that she was being tailed by people affiliated with the Church of Scientology in the lead-up to her separation from Cruise as well as after her divorce filing. (The church has denied the allegations.)

Her secretive planning paid off, of course. By the time she filed to end her marriage, she had taken on three law firms in three states without Cruise's knowledge (he was reportedly shocked by her filing) and ultimately got exactly what she reportedly wanted – primary physical custody of the couple's daughter, Suri, and power over how she will be educated.

Cruise's devotion to Scientology and how the church would factor into Suri's education and upbringing were reportedly major factors in Holmes' decision to file for divorce. The couple even appeared to address that well-known fact in the joint statement they released after reaching their divorce settlement, saying, "We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents."

This divorce was orchestrated years ago. They had a contract marriage. Tom Cruise is a faggot. The kid is probably not even his. End of story. Anything you read to the contrary is bullcrap.

Famous people are often very outgoing and highly suggestible. Actor with outgoing personality with lesser education and intelligence would surely be easier mark than your average computer scientist.
