today's mma hour is worth a listen, Ariel basically tells the story of the last 5 years and his UFC problems. The craziest story is the one he won't talk about right now, which is when dana's security assaulted and choked Ariel for asking Chuck Liddell questions at an event about 25 ppvs ago. It had been hinted at long ago, and people like frontrowbrian talked about it, but Ariel essentially confirmed it today, though not in those words.

In general, tho, Lorenzo hates Ariel and has no respect for any reporters, especially those who he feels fuck with his business, and has the power to do something about it. That's the entirety of it in a single sentence. Dana is merely the guy who does the dirty work, I don't think he takes any of it personally long term.

Couple years ago, Dave Meltzer told a great story about Dana and his outlook in general. After Dave wrote something or other, Dana called/texted him and told Dave that he was going to publicly rip on him later that day, and wanted to give him a heads up, or something like that. Dave thanked him, later that day Dana went off on Dave at a press conference, and their relationship continued on as if nothing ever happened. I'll see if I can dig that up, it was a pretty funny story about how the UFC handles shit in general.

edit: The Meltzer thing was about an article Dave wrote on shitty UFC on Fox ratings.

Here's all I want to say.

Dana called me and told me what he was going to do ahead of time saying he didn't want to blindside me. He was pissed at the article in last week's Observer and if he's pissed he doesn't hold it in. And I've got no issue with that or with him. I wish he hadn't brought up the Yahoo thing just because it brings sympathy to me that I don't want and that it probably does him no benefit to the outside world to be doing. It appears he's kicking a guy when he's down and I'm not down, so it didn't bother me, but to the outside world, I don't know how it comes across.

Rather than rallying around me or saying Dana's hurting into Eric or Vince, just read the article. If you think I wasn't fair and presenting both sides of the story, then he's right to be mad. If you think I was fair, then that's cool. Any discussions should be about the points in the article because if anyone thinks I'm mad at him, well, that's the furthest thing from the case.

As far as I'm concerned, I thought the article was fair. He didn't. We've disagreed before and agree far more than we disagree when it comes to the product."

On a side note, Aldo is rumored to be out of UFC 200 with injury. Edgar runs so bad.

can we talk about how fucking insane it is that brock isnt getting dope tested for this fight?

Brock was enrolled in the usada program upon signing, so he most definitely is being tested it seems?

the story im hearing is that he was literally granted an exemption from the program because apparently zuffa has discretionary power to exclude fighters who are returning from retirement or some such drivel.

so yeah hes enrolled, he just doesnt get tested for this fight and possibly doesnt even need to adhere to the weight cut restrictions.

hoping i just got bad info on this but its not looking great.

    You are misunderstanding the exemption.

I'd imagine USADA was at brock's door at 6AM the day after he signed.

Of course, Brock would know that'd be the case, which is why he wasn't a signed athlete until Saturday, IMO. Deal was all but done well before Saturday, I'd bet, but there was no reason to do the final signing until the fight was just about to be announced.

yeah i mean, if brock can land one of his juggernaught style doubles then he can probably hammerfist his way to a stoppage, juiced or not.

but really the odds arent great he can stick it, and him doing damage in hunts guard isnt a lock either. plus i think he has about 2 minutes in the first round where he can nail it without being too gassed to pull it off, and if you shoot on hunt without pulling it off, youre getting punched in the head really fucking hard, and if hunt so much as grazes lesnar's head lesnar's balls are going to show and hes going to just get picked off like a chump when he tries to stand.

to be perfectly honest, if there's a line out there that this fight doesnt happen, i want to bet on it. i think usada finds some loophole to test brock and his piss burns through the beaker like that blood from the facehugger in Alien.

No loophole needed. Brock is enrolled and free to be tested.

I think we can easily say Lesnar has one of the best doubles in the sport. And the best at HW by miles and miles and miles. Its a hell of a weapon.

But I agree that Hunt should be able to mush-sock him ftw long before he lands it, and I also freely point out that he has the gas for maybe two of those doubles before he turns into a pinata.

All I know is that I'm betting Hunt inside the distance & then hedging that by betting either inside the distance. These aren't up on Bovada yet but they will be.
