Despite the doom and gloom of worst-case predictions, those working in the drone industry say there's no need for fearmongering.
"It's important to say, 'Hey, this is a flying camera. Use it respectfully and use it safely.' It's not something to be scared of," said Bryan Micon, speaking on behalf of Las Vegas-based Drones Plus, which operates 15 stores across Canada and the U.S.
Micon said a lot of the media coverage he has seen has been "sensationalized," and focused on privacy concerns, like the time a drone was spotted buzzing around a Vancouver condo tower.
But Micon said as the technology becomes more common, those issues will iron themselves out.
"Sure, maybe everybody at this stage doesn't understand how to use them out of the box," he said.
"I think within a few years though, they'll just become so ubiquitous ... it will become less scary for people."
so anyway i bought another one after my little accident and got a range extender (line of sight) added so i could fly it over the water had a blast. till i lost contact and it just disappeared never to be seen again. my wife told me to take a break from the drone fun, I have a buddy who has a ski shop near the Drones Plus in vancouver and may drop by there next week to have a look at something a little more high tec, will post trip report when i go.

I think the evolutionary curve re new functionality is so steep, I mean, they would still need to knock $250 off that price before I considered getting one instead of a 4 series.
