I agree that he should not be charged with resisting arrest.

When a guy actively puts his hands behind his back FOR YOU and states repeatedly that he's not resisting and the cop continues to say "stop resisting", the cop is looking for an out so he can kill you.

I agree that following your advice is something people should *rationally* do, but in the heat of the ridiculousless of the moment, meaning what happening just doesn't make sense, people naturally *start* resisting. It is human nature for most everyone who hasn't been thoroughly trained to be robotic obedient sheeple to resist a little bit while trying to reason with the person who is doing something incredulous to you. And cops *know* this. So, they take any sign of such resistance -- especially when they are abusing their power -- to exaggerate the magnitude of that initial resistance in cases like this to justify charging otherwise innocent people. And guess which side has typically gotten fucked in such circumstances before the proliferation of video recordings to capture such abuse of power for the world to see?

And that is why body cams with sound -- and the inability of cops in the field to turn them off -- is essential to level the playing field between the police and citizens. And motivate cops to more often respect the civil rights of citizens.

    OK

I watched the video just now on a large screen.

For those unaware, that person is RESISTING. He is not complying with the officers. He isnt staying still. He is not putting his hands behind his back and keeping them there. He is moving around.

What is not helping the situation, is the amount of people in the area saying things like "LAWSUIT", because it will give that guy the impression that he can sue the police. He IS free to attempt to sue them, however, based on that video, he would lose BADLY.

"ITS BEING RECORDED" - This is a phrase that is used on cops multiple times a day now. Thats fine. You can record cops. Just dont do the following (which happens every day in Chicago): Dont turn your light on, on your phone, and stick it an inch from the cops face, while spraying him with spittle, as you yell, "Yo ass on camera" or "16 shots Mutherfuckers". Its legal in IL to record police, but people take that shit way too far.

Now, back to the video, if the cop got in trouble, which I was told he did, he must have not had a good reason for trying to arrest the guy. He SHOULD get in trouble for that. Its bullshit.

the day that all cops have body cameras will, theoretically, remove ALL the excuses (both criminals and cops) and require ALL PARTIES to be accountable for their actions.

I cant wait for this day. I want the police to be police, and I want the public to see the vile assholes they deal with every day. I want a website started that allows FOIA requests for videos, and to have them released to the public, on a pay site.

Yeah but I think we've all seen the videos where the cops get all Nixon on the equipment so the part that is most incriminating is the part that goes missing. That is a top down problem that stems from the mission of what police are actually there to do, which is to protect the interests of the jurisdictional government, not the people that pay their salaries.

nothing will ever be perfect. accept that.

If you are referring to CPD body cameras, I've already addressed that issue, but I DID leave out a very important part, as it pertained to the LaQuan situation.

Millionaires are leaving Chicago more than any other city in the United States on a net basis, according to a new report.

About 3,000 individuals with net assets of $1 million or more, not including their primary residence, moved from the city last year, with many citing rising racial tensions and worries about crime as factors in the decision, according to research firm New World Wealth. That represented about 2 percent of the city's high net worth individuals.

Cities in the United States that saw a net inflow of millionaires included Seattle and San Francisco.

Chicago was among four cities worldwide with the biggest flight of millionaires.

Like I said, the rich are going to GTFO and the middle class will be left with carrying more of a burden in terms of the taxes.

That would be a tax on the poor. We have plenty of rich people we could tax instead

We pray for understanding as we all occasionally request back door action by accident, when we tried to call an electrician. It happens, it simply happens.

Gasoline taxes hit the middle class more than the poor.
    http://thinkprogress.org/climate/200...ax-regressive/

    • The poor are more likely not to buy any gasoline (i.e. not own a car at all)
    • Poor families own fewer cars (and much fewer of the fuel-inefficient SUVs and minivans), and
    • They walk and use mass transit more.

Maybe the best description of the situation is from a December 2003 study for the state of California:

“A gas tax would be regressive only across upper-income groups, in this case only in the top half of the income distribution.”

    Unreal....

The info in this passage should outrage average private sector-employed Illinois residents.

But before looking to whack Illinoisans with tax and fee hikes, policymakers would be wise to look at the cost drivers behind public construction projects in Illinois.

The Land of Lincoln is home to the highest workers’ compensation costs in the Midwest. Take concrete construction, for example, an essential part of work on roads and bridges. The average workers’ compensation insurance premium is nearly 22 percent of payroll for this industry in Illinois. In neighboring Indiana, workers’ compensation costs total a little over 4 percent of payroll.

    Name: image.png
Views: 474
Size: 32.7 KB

In other words, for every $1 billion spent on labor for concrete construction, Illinois spends an extra $173 million in workers’ compensation costs alone, compared with Indiana. This is a prime example of how wrong Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan is when he characterizes workers’ compensation reform as “nonbudgetary,” and thus not worthy of serious discussion.

Prevailing-wage requirements, which are hourly minimum wages placed on government contracts for public work, are another cost driver. If the government funds any part of a project, contractors are required to pay wages set by the Illinois Department of Labor. These workers are paid more than their private-sector counterparts, who are often the very people footing the bill.

In DuPage County, for example, taxpayers are required to pay the equivalent of a $128,000 salary plus benefits for a typical laborer on a public project. DuPage County governments must pay carpenters the equivalent of a $146,000 annual salary plus benefits.
These numbers are fucking outrageous! If I were an Illinois resident, I would start a campaign for voters who are pissed about these ridiculous wages to honk their vehicle horns like crazy anytime the my drive by an active public project site. And start a GoFundMe page to put up billboard messages displaying these numbers, and inviting people to participate in the vehicle horn-honking protest!

Jesus, was Chicago a fucking mess today.

shootings everywhere, several homicides, a dude jumped in front of a train today, and the guy ended up decapitated and in pieces. They used two body bags on him. People in the train were puking. It screwed up all the rush hour trains inbound/outbound from the city to Ohare tonight, for two hours.

then, this article comes out for the 6 homicide killing from a month ago. The shit they did to this poor family is totally fucked up.

    http://chicago.suntimes.com/news/gag...topsy-reports/

the BLM, "cop hating" (I now like that phrase, thanks guys) head of the Chicago Teachers Union just got re-nominated (no one would run against her, so they didnt even bother with the vote and just said, its yours). Her rally last week had some teacher at the end, get up at the podium, downtown chicago during their rally, and yell FUCK THE POLICE several times for the entire crowd. How this bitch still has a job is beyond me.

store across the street from Wrigley just got broken into for the 2nd time in a week (Cubs owners are probably shitting bricks over all the crime in that area lately).

    http://www.cwbchicago.com/

huge scandal in the CPD with people finally starting to investigate all the cheating that has been going on for 30 years regarding the tests you have to take to get the high-up-the-food-chain positions. turns out that the new guy Rahm just appointed as top cop, happens to be dating someone that was likely cheating.
