The face painting that Conor gave Nate was impressive. The thing about Nate that was the one thing Conor would have to overcome is that Nate can take a lot of damage and not gas or freak the fuck out. I believe that someone in this very thread mentioned that if Nate could weather the initial storm that Conor would usher forth, Conor was going to be battling uphill. That being said, I didn't expect it to unfold the way that it did, other than if Nate was going to finish this, it would be on the ground.

You could say the same thing about Chad Mendes and Conor fight.

You had a Chad Mendes with no camp taking down Conor at will. Conor is slightly above average fighter who had a temporary horse shoe up his ass. He will lose to Frankie Edgar and the hype will be almost over after that.

Trying to dig up deets on why/how that happened. Mitrione, for all his faults, is super legit and had a ton of potential. He was crushing his last fight until Ronda's pet boy clawed out his eye. He didnt even drop 3 in a row. And he could sure as fuck hold his own against the likes of Mir, Silva, JDS, maybe even Roy. Fucked shit.

Fairly simple story, one we'll hear more and more about in the future.

UFC offered him the Ben Henderson, pie in the sky deal where he's guaranteed very little, but could potentially get millions and millions if he becomes champ, shit like that. Bellator guaranteed him over 6 figures a fight, plus all the sponsors he can wrangle. UFC declined to match.

btw, if you haven't read Mitrione's complaint to the MA state athletic idiots, its pretty complete and damning.

Mitrione has always been my least liked fighter. Watched his season of ultimate fighter (the year Bader won) and just had a mad disdain for his attitude. That being said, he wasn't a bad fighter and seemed to be improving. I won't miss him though.
