Ego is a bad thing in MMA but from a financial standpoint McGregor was never in jeopardy of his stock declining from this loss. It was a serious reality check for him though if he felt he could dominate all the way up to 170. He has been impressive at 145 but lets not forget he just got that title and he's talking about winning belts at the next two weight classes up.
The guys who fight at 170 are walking around 20+ pounds bigger then that and throw bombs a lot harder then all featherweights. Connor was in for a rude awaking if he fought anyone in the Top 5 at welterweight imo if his plan was to stand in there and trade blows with them.

Am I gonna be the first to ask the question. Does Conner still get or even deserve his shot at RDA now?? Nate was a contender at 155 and he just beat the guy who was supposed to fight RDA. Sorry to me Diaz deserves the shot now over Conner.
I believe Conner has committed to dropping to 145 to face Frankie but personally I dont think he can pull off that cut again, and will just vacate the title, fuck Frankie, and probably end up squaring off against the likes of Cerrone or Barboza.
I do believe him facing RDA next is off the table.
Diaz may get RDA but lets be real; Diaz is 3-3 in his last 6 one of those was at welterweight basically (Conor).
Additionally, Diaz fought RDA like 15 months ago and got decisioned.
I think it makes more sense for Nate to face the winner of Ferguson v Nurmagomedov and whoever wins that gets RDA. And probably at the same card, have RDA face Alvarez (ugh) which makes a ton of money sense because Nates v either Ferg or Nurm is going to be a huge fucking draw and RDA v Alvarez is totally not.
