    Rugby World Cup

This shit is quite interesting, especially from a betting perspective.

Japan (rugby minnows) beat South Africa the other day, even tho they were 70/1 before the game.

New Zealand are even moneies to win the thing overall, but they only beat Argentina (not a top tier team) in their first game by a small margin, so it seems like bad value.

As an outside punt I bet Ireland to win outright at 10/1.

I recently started playing Gaelic football in a league through an Irish guy that I know.

That shit is real, and imo a much better game than traditional rugby.

Any other time i would never doubt the All Blacks. The kiwis are the kings of Rugby. However they have NEVER won the Cup outside of NZ. I somehow suspect history will repeat.

If this was 7 on 7 Id give the edge to the USA but its not. While similar in rules 7 on 7 vs traditional rugby is night and day. Too bad the USA Team couldn't recruit some guys who were NFL washouts yet were decent college players with some bulk and speed. I know the issue is 300lb O or D linemen unless they have speed to boot are useless however some decent sized Linebackers wouldn't be a bad choice or a RB with say the build of a The Bus (decent height with about 240-250 and speed). The issue is stamina of course. Football guys are used to 5-15seconds of mayhem with 30-45 seconds of rest. Rugby is the bastard child of Eurotrash soccer and American Football in most regards, although one might say that more accurately about Aussie Football vs Rugby.

Am I crazy to think the Canadians are a better chance then 8.20 against the Italians tomorrow? (7-1 in the old money)

I wouldn't be surprised if they beat the Italians at HUGE odds.

    Nuts?

Ughhhhh. Is it just me or are there homo-erotic undertones to this sport?

This is contradictory but I'd just as soon watch men's figure skating(Olympics only).

    $8.50 right now.

It's not that I think the Canadians are any good, but I do think they're on the improve in recent years.... but still a long way off being a good team.

Just don't think the Italians are particularly good... if the opposition get in their face, they can't play with their usual flair.

Worth a small interest bet I think.

Oh well, was an interesting and close game.

60% possession and 60% territory favouring the Canucks... they probably should have won.

    Good call but wrong result.

That's a brave bet considering Tonga's loss to Georgia.
