So to sum up. I've really no idea where my head stands when it comes to the death penalty.
I've had the same thoughts before.

The desire to see others suffer is barbaric. Few people enjoy watching others getting tortured, raped, executed, etc. But we're still emotional and primitive humans. When someone causes us pain, we often want revenge, to see them punished, to make ourselves feel better. That's not justice, really. It's an immoral sort of therapy.

Objectively, I think that's wrong. I don't think cruelty is ever justified. But I doubt I could be so rational if my family were victimized. I'm not strong enough. I might want to see horrible things happen to the people responsible.

I admire those people that have the fortitude to forgive.
