It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

    i can swing both ways.

Time for Dodgers to snap outta the batting slump vs Padres. Line reflects Dodgers zero offense.

Padres pitching Ian Kennedy. He's 0-6 with a 5.74 ERA over his last 10 starts against the Dodgers.

He was battered for eight runs in 4 1/3 innings of an 11-8 loss to Los Angeles on April 25, with Adrian Gonzalez, Howie Kendrick and Andre Ethier all homering off him. Tee it up!

Mikey Bolsinger I think is the real deal and I believe what he does the rest of the yr will determine how the Dodgers season goes.. The thing that scares me is he can be a bit wild.. With the North Korean going down for the season this guy has to produce. That being said I'm staying away can't trust the Dodgers tonight if this becomes a bullpen game.

All I am betting is the Dodgers score 4. You kidding? I would never bet Dodgers to win now.

    Bad bet.

Bats have been asleep. I'm not just saying that because it's 2-0 in the 8th.

I know they tend to hammer Kennedy, but they're in a pretty historic short-term scoring slump now, so it's not wise to bet over 4.

I agree with badguy, though. Bolsinger has looked great so far. He's the only one of the parade of minor league pitchers who have performed consistently well (though Frias hasn't been bad).

the theory advanced (that is, the excuse offered) is the cooler humid weather of late (So Cal annual May gray marine layer) has reduced the carry on balls struck, so fewer home runs hit...if you recall, Andre Either claimed the early season warm dry weather was causing home runs...

don't know if San Francisco had a similar marine layer last week....

but it the theory is correct, no immediate improvement to offense because So Cal May gray is followed by June gloom lasting until a little before the start of July...

Life threatening injuries for Red Sox fan hit by bat. She really wasn't expected to live.

JUNE 6, 2015, 7:30 AM|A woman is fighting for her life after a freak accident at last night’s Red Sox game. In the second inning, the bat of Oakland’s Brett Lawrie shattered, and pieces flew into the stands. The woman sitting in the first few rows behind the on-deck circle was struck in the head. Anthony Mason reports.

Deadspin as usual does best job. Deadspin has the Comcast Athletics broadcast 1:00 in you see Lawrie's swing.

    http://deadspin.com/fan-at-red-sox-g...off-1709430661

You can hear the women screaming at 2:00 as she is taken off field.

Wonder if they finally ban Ash bats. Those things just explode when they go bad.

I think this post jinxed the tigers in to actually winning, so i thank you for that.

in all seriousness though, the tigers are gonna have to consider rebuilding. that starts with dealing yet another starting pitcher in david price.

    He 1-hit the Cards tonight.

The Dodger sat A Gonzales, played Calaspo instead of Guerro, had Helmsley in left field and Howie Kendricks was out with knee strain...

according to baseball prospectus, the Dodgers have played one of the more difficult schedules so far and are most likely to make the NL playoffs, slightly better chance than even the Cardinals--too soone yet for Dodger fans to despair nor Cardinal fans to celebrate

Come on... bragging even when the Cards get 1-hit?

As GrenadaRoger said, the Dodgers fielded a crap lineup tonight.

You should be concerned because this start was a big emotional/mental hurdle for Kershaw. The Cards were the one team he couldn't beat, and now he almost no-hit them. He will remember this come October.

And Wainwright will be watching from the bench.

    ??????

The Dodgers are down to winning one game a week and you are bragging?

Yep, Wainwright may be on the bench, but so will Mattingly, and that's all anybody needs to beat the Dodgers. That Bozo has made some major mistakes in the last few days, so unless the Dodgers pitch a one hitter every game they are in big trouble.
the bullet hit trump but took out biden.

    Don't like it.

Sure, he wasn't hitting well, and was mostly on the bench. But he was loved in the clubhouse, and played great defense.

Callaspo is an inferior defender, and also is not an upgrade offensively. The only thing he does well is not strike out, but he doesn't hit for a high average, nor does he have speed or power. So what was the point?

The pitchers they got along with Callaspo are fail pitchers and I think two were already DFA'd.

    Whole thing reeks of fail.

That the Dodgers benefit from a cupcake schedule has been the cornerstone of my argument that the Dodgers regular season success gives false hope.

That I might be wrong is so painful to consider that I am reluctant to look myself.

You made the claim, Grenade. Show me.

On another note, every time I see Hanley Ramirez put on his glove I know the Dodgers have exacted their revenge for the mega Dodgers/Red Sox trade in late 2012 that freed the Sox of Gonzalez, Crawford & Beckett thus allowing the Sox to win the World Series in 2013.

Hanley Ramirez is so atrocious in the field that despite hitting a ton he has had a negative WAR. He is so bad that the Sox really have to sit him and his 2015 $19 million dollar contract or give up on Ortiz and install Ramirez as DH.

Either way the Red Sox are fucked. $184 million for last place in the worst division and no hope for years to come.

I miss watching baseball in the summer.

Oh yeah, thanks Lew for Chef P.

    .

    http://www.baseballprospectus.com/standings/

see 3rd order win projection: "offensive and defensive stats adjusted for quality of opponents"

i am interpreting that to mean so far the Dodgers schedule has been difficult and the remaining schedule is easier--perhaps i have that wrong, and if anyone knows exactly i welcome their sharing.

perhaps a better report is at ESPN---see strength of schedule column

    http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/rpi

according to that report, Cardinals are best, Dodgers 3rd best in all of baseball and look to go to the playoffs

Oh look, it's the "fake Dodgers" in 2nd. Something to do with variance and running hot as I recall.
