In all honesty, anyone who invested in him in 2011 via any online forum makes that investment there own fault. There was enough information out there, with the most minimal amount of research to understand your Risk/Reward was way off.
Given that, it is in some ways hard to hate Nick as much as the most naive of people who "call" themself investors. Nicks whack. I can't hate him though.
2+2 destroyed him, and now expect the very people who doubted him in the first place to get sympathy when they get scammed. You all tried to ruin him, now are font page NVG him. Don't agree with it. In alot of ways Nick was just way more advanced and ahead of the game then most people.
So this happens on Thursday, but it takes him until Monday to respond. Because.... it was mothers day on Sunday? Makes sense.
And of course no where in there is an explanation about what happened, just attacks on people. Again typical of a scammer. Avoid, avoid, avoid, deflect, deflect, deflect.
This whole situation needs to be addressed on radio, with Druff and I debating on whether or not this was a scam, and garrett calling in and explaining himself. I'll start with this Nick Rainey post and why I had that opinion on 2+2 bashing him etc. It was from personal experience, as you can see from the threads about me here SrslySirius keeps posting. That was way back when he was crushing MTTs on Pokerstars, and had no clue the guy was running some MTT farm and angling the game. It was almost day in day out, he was winning MTTs, and aside from Alex I didn't watch tons of people play MTTs. He was good at the time, or so I thought so when I saw threads pop up about the guy, and the smearing of him I responded harshly because I understood how damning the slightest inkling, and some posts with no money even staked or played that it could be so damaging. So I started to think much of 2+2 was all about that, the 'cool kids', and the not so 'cool kids'
My opinion in that post was for a reason. A lot of people here don't know a friend of mine who I used to play with in NJ while I was at Rutgers-Newark in North NJ/NYC/ and on Pokerstars is Alex Rocha. Alex is a phenomenal player both live and online. It was pretty obvious he had everything it takes to make it, and has. Way back then around 2007-2009 I was still learning a lot. I had only started playing poker in 2005 or 2006 more so after I got out of the Army and moved back to NJ. Needless to say we both had different experiences with the poker world and especially 2+2. Alex participated and got along with everyone plus with his online scores was able to get backed live via 2+2. Around that same time, he went on to win a WSOPc ring, and a month later outright won the WPT Borgata Winter Open event 1 $550 rebuy for like ~150k. I always respected his game because I saw and know Alex before he was really anything. I still remember the $2 4pm 4k iirc that he outright won, probably weeks before SCOOP and a month or so before the WSOP. None of it surprised me I saw Alex play and progress extremely quickly. And what really springboarded him was his ability to get backed on 2+2 very early on to start playing live events.
So when I saw the Nick Rainey posts, and at the time not being aware of any of the nitty gritty of him, it wasn't so much I like him as much as I disliked the line people were trying to take onto him. Humiliating and disgracing him, because I understood as soon as that ball started rolling downhill it's going to be hard to slow down or stop and essentially you are screwed in the poker world, if people think you are some no good scammer. I understood it the effect it could have on someone and really despise that element of poker.
So... another post full of nonsense not addressing the issue. Great.

I posted you the log of my private convo with DK so you knew it was on its way, and felt that was good enough. He was ready to play and more than just he was clamoring for it. I was ready to play, so we played.

You won by the smallest of margins also got extremely lucky having nuts vs 2nd nuts in numerous pots.
I dont think for a minute I could do this for a living, but I have the run good now and again to walk home with 2k ish from live play.
And you are at the very best of times no better than my equal, so please dont bank on plying for a living.
