The rules regarding posting full names are for members of the site, not for the general public. If you want to vent about someone in your real life who has done something to upset you, and you want to use their real name, go right ahead. The only thing I don't allow as far as that goes is posting people's addresses or other closely identifying information.
To show how consistent I am with that rule, when that guy recently shot himself at the M buffet, his last Facebook post named off the women who he felt mistreated him, and then posted their addresses. I left up their names, but redacted their addresses.
Had Pockles posted Officer Fauver's address, I would have redacted it. I'm not redacting the guy's name, as that is a matter of public record anyway. I'm also not removing his Facebook page, as he chose to leave that open. Again, I don't redact Facebook page addresses of non-members here.
Why do I have a stricter standard for members? Because I want to give people a sense of privacy when posting here, in that they can say controversial things and be themselves without it coming back to bite them later in real life.
Not all of this is in the official rules, but that's the way I've always handled it here. When any situation like this comes up, I just apply common sense to the situation and do what I feel is right.
