They actually are. When I worked in the biz from 2000-2005, they were a handful of time NGC agents came into casinos to either arrest dealers/staff that were stealing or customers that were cheating. They carried guns on their bodies.
I will have more on all this later.
Won't bore you with my thoughts on a 12 man SWAT team entering Micons house with guns drawn...
But I will bore you with some truths about Antigua
Yes it is a poor country, which inevitably has a level of crime.... but is far from a shithole, and is in fact a major tourist destination for many Europeans... It's also a popular honeymoon escape.
Bit similar to Cancun if you like.
So in the short term I can imagine the Micons will be generally very happy with their lot over there..
But long term I think he/they will suffer quite badly with the limited amount of activities and network of friends that will be on offer... not to mention the lack of family support. Which is something we all take for granted and would miss badly if it suddenly wasn't there at the touch of a button.... Of course they'll still have a level of family support, but won't be anywhere near the same.
The only way they'll keep their sanity is if they have a solid amount of income flowing through their shady bank accounts... they need light at the end of the tunnel allowing them to make longer term plans...
And I don't care what state the extradition treaty is in between both countries.... Things change and Micon will be sleeping with one eye open for the foreseeable future.
Story ranking #2 for bitcoin poker site raided: http://calvinayre.com/2015/02/22/bus...da-regulators/
Check out the photoshop they did:![]()
I honestly believe bitcoin poker has a place. It doesnt matter if its a guy name huckleberry Finn or Bryan Micon, it has a place in the world we live in today. Having said that we all know unfortunately this world is not so simple. So one cant sit here today and sa we know anything about anything, but if the issues are simply about a bitcoin poker site in the US I think there is a fight to be had here. If its he didn't do his part over the years while living like a millionaire, well then you have to pay the piper.
Bitcoin poker has a place!
Geeps, how's SwCPoker gonna pass these legal hurdles in Antigua...maybe Micon's good for it/has investors?

Personally see the biggest problem with "no account necessary bitcoin poker" to be Antigua's Security Requirements: Must register and verify identities including name, DOB, address. Good Luck with that Micon.
Hes not incorporating in Antigua, Im guessing.

Some quick thoughts before I go out for the evening.
1) I never called him out on it publicly because I thought it would seem in bad taste considering he was my best friend at one point and with the falling out and all. Micon owned 50% of seals since day 1 (as many of you knew) The chariman, marketing ruse was intended to protect him from exactly what happened on Feb 11th.
2) He offered me a stake in seals (as this was going on during the last year plus of our friendship)
3) He got his ownership by convincing the sole owner that in exchange for half, he would blow up the site with his marketing, celebrity status in vegas etc.
4) Don't remember dollars but I was invited to buy a piece as an investor, not be gifted one. I don't remember the exact numbers but it was a little upwards of 15k
5) I declined. Honestly, not because of the fear of a raid, rather than not thinking it was a good investment
6) Micon loves the wsop. We use to have silly conversations about how much money some one would have to pay him to never be able to come back to the US and play in a WSOP event. It was upwards of 10 million every time the subject was broached.
7) I do truly feel sorry that his little girl had to witness this, but a 2 years old wont remember this and thankfully will not leave permanent trauma.
8) I last saw Micon Feb 3 at the Venetian. I got moved to his table (a new table started right before reg ended). He was in the 1, I was in the 4. We never acknowledged each other nor did at any time we "play at one another"
9) Over the last 5 years, its remarkable the transformation I have seen with Bryan. All this tweeting about a police state, being a jew and tweeting ant-sementic view, and the anti gov propoganda was never part of any implied or stated mindset during the long duration of our friendship. Obv people change. But this was like a total 180.
10) I just posted this as this is truly all I can offer on the subject. Most of the "close mutual friends" we both had, chose to continue their friendship with him (instead of us both). This resulted in a pick him or me dilemma. Anyhow this is all I know or can offer. I truly (and sincerely from my heart) hope that child has a good life. I do truly believe Micon loves her to death and I have been told by others who are close, Martha is a great mother. Def going to be hard going forward.
Micon said the agents who conducted the raid “made it clear that they were very familiar with my social feeds and my entire output as a journalist.”

he getsit i root for him because he believes in himself.
poker is historically sordid and dirty. So can you hit it n run. Or get stuck and burn.
The Nevada Gaming Commission has probably been investigating Micon for years.
They will cooperate fully with the FBI and all other federal agencies.
Now that they have Micon's computer equipment, the real investigation begins, which could take a couple more years to produce an indictment.
They will be looking for information on all owners of SealsofClubs, bank transactions, bitcoin transactions, known associates, basically any information related to illegal gaming.
If the FBI decide to charge Micon with wire fraud and money laundering, the money laundering alone carries a minimum sentence of 5 years in prison.
Does federal prison accept Bitcoin?
For some reason, I don't think Micon would do very well in prison.

Let's say the bulk of Micon's "wealth" is in bitcoin, which obv it probably is. Can he still access all that in Antigua without any problems? I mean I would almost guarantee any US based accounts were frozen, so all that is probably gone.
Basically, just based on precedent, Micon would be looking at a year in jail and forfeiture of all assets if he contested the charges.
Now if he opens up a site in Antigua, he is basically giving the Feds the finger at that point, and they would be much less sympathetic and the penalties would likely be 3-5 years in jail.
He is basically saying he never wants to return to the US. I am sure his in-laws are literally puking right now. I am sure they probably always scratched their head why their daughter threw away a law career to shack up with an unemployed grifter in Las Vegas. But now it's a third world country.
It will be interesting to see how much they like the beach a year from now.
When seals got started there was minimal and I mean minimal traffic. It didn't get bigger until after our friendship ended. It took well over 18 months to start deriving any kind of menial to decent cash flow. I was long gone.
I do know ( as a close friend told me) that during this past wsop, micon sat down at a 50-100 stud game. My friend told me he pulled out over 100k in chips and placed them in his stack, as to taunt her, knowing she didn't have anywhere near that kind of money.
Was all the money his? Was it the 70% he sold? No idea. But that is the only insight I have into anything regarding his financials.
I talk to a couple of mutual friends we both have...(No not Schoenfeld....lol...after being a good friend and DOING A LOT FOR HIM, after the what went down, he dropped me like I was a piece of shit, never to be heard from again. But I dont think that was because of Micon as much as it was his constant infatuation for Martha since day 1.
Going to dinner. GS all
ZOD
edit: when i mentioned that we have 2-3 mutual friends left, my point was I never asked regarding Micon, his finances etc and they never offered.
