basic addition no problem for guys in my school

we used our fingers for the ones column and keep our zippers down for when we have to carry past 10

    arithmetic was fun that way

Yeah, but she computes using Shazia's Lap Gap Theory. It's just not fair.

Tom Lehrer once said that Base 8 is just like Base 10, if you're missing 2 fingers.

I can't go for Base 12 because then you're using A and B as numbers, and I just can't accept that.

Don't you have a degree in Computer Science? A through F are numbers in hexadecimal.

That's a good reason to not like hexadecimal systems, but the Base 12 system usually uses (or a script X which my font doesn't have ATM) and Ɛ, rather than A and B. Problem solved.

Ok here's a question; how many of you use math higher than basic algebra with any regularity? I use geometry a bunch, but nothing much more than that. I guess what i'm getting at is that maybe not everyone needs to know calculus.

When did I say I liked Base 16?

You are definitely right 4D although I have a friend whose dream job was to work for Disney or 6Flags and design roller coasters (yes I know) and his dream was crushed because he couldn't pass intro Calc in college....gotta believe very few professions really use Calculus on a regular basis.

I imagine rollercoaster design would use calculus heavily. Maybe I misinterpreted though and you are using it as an example of a profession that does.

Another profession would be bitcoin speculator...
