If Magic buys this team,
LA will always be a Laker town, but Magic + young talent+Doc Rivers>retarded Buss Jr+shit team+ Dantonio
I think this could put Lebron in play. The Clippers can afford him with the hike in luxury space. Paul+Blake+LBJ is far superior to Wade+Bosh+LBJ going forward. He'd walk to 4 more straight with that team.
Forbes always under-values everything.
Forbes claims the team is worth $575 million right now.
The L.A. Times says the L.A. Clippers are worth around $700 million.
I seriously doubt that Sterling sells for less than $800 million.
Question is, who is going to buy the team at that price?
Magic Johnson? I doubt that he would sell-out to a negro.

It all depends on how many more "pretend you have HIV" payments Magic has left.
how do they ban him for this? racist or not, right or wrong, the man should be entitled to his opinion.
He's not entitled to anything. This is not a freedom of speech issue. If I walk into my office tomorrow and talk about the virtues of white supremacy, my opinions aren't protected. I get terminated on the spot, and rightly so.
I have a right to say whatever I want and not get arrested. I don't have the right to say what I want and keep my job, or have access to any private club I want, or to post on any forum I want.
I wrote this just moments before the decision was announced:

Yes, it is. He OWNS the team. I'm not saying he's right, but the league should not be able to bar him from attending or taking part in games and/or activities pertaining to a team he OWNS.
My problem with this whole line of action is not about him as much as I have problem with the various sports leagues and their policies. Next the owners will meet and vote to force him to give up his team. The league and the other owners will then have final say over who he can sell to.
I'm not sure why you bolded the freedom of speech thing, because your argument seems to center around whether or not the league has the authority to ban him from attending games. If they do, then the reason doesn't matter.
Freedom of speech is a constitutional thing. It's got nothing to do with this. I guess you could argue that it's immoral or unethical to punish him for saying what he said, but that's a funny line to take.
He owned a team because the NBA allowed him to own a team. They approve you on the way in, and they retain the right to make you leave if you are bad for business. He may be an owner, but he always was accountable to the NBA board of governors just like everyone else in the league. Dude didn't own a stand-alone business that can run on its own, he owns one that depends on two+ dozen similar businesses for his/their success. He became incredibly bad for business over night, and in a flash, he's gonna be gone. Nothing unjust here. He's gonna get a shitload of money for his efforts, nothing is being stolen from him, and he's gonna be even richer this time next year than he is right now.
There's no injustice here. Plenty of injustice in the world, but none here.
And it definitely isn't a freedom of speech issue.
You are correct that he owns the team. However that doesn't mean what you infer it means. It's a bit like owning a house. Sure you can paint it what color you want and furnish it how you want but the city has bylaws on all kinds of shit to do with 'your' property. That includes what you can park in the driveway, store on your yard. They make you clear snow on sidewalks, etc.
A team is a franchise of the NBA and they have similar and far more restrictions on what a franchisee can do. If he was allowed to keep the team the overall value of the NBA would take a hit. They would lose all kinds of sponsors and fans. They would risk a new league starting up and taking over. There is no way they won't have a clause in their agreement that doesn't cover damaging the league reputation.

Just quickly read through druff's blog. Main problem is that the nba isn't a free market, so it's silly to let the free market decide. The NBA and its franchises are about as closed/controlled a market as can be.
FWIW, she claims that it was recorded with his knowledge, at his request. http://www.tmz.com/2014/04/27/donald...rded-clippers/
But assuming she's full of shit, sure, it's unfair. The leaking of the recording was no fault of his own. But it's still out there. You can't just expect the NBA to ignore it and all the backlash that came with it. This isn't a court of law where the evidence has standards of admissibility. Sponsors are jumping ship and the league is left with a shitstorm on their hands. You can't send the message that you condone that sort of rhetoric.
Donald Sterling says the the L.A. Clippers are not for sale.
Now the NBA will move forward and strip the team of their franchise, making the team virtually worthless.
Not sure what it means to the players, but if he loses his NBA franchise, why would he continue to pay them?
The L.A. Clippers will be sold in a fire sale, for a lot less money than it is worth.
Magic Johnson and his business partners might be able to buy it for a couple hundred million.
