My Norwegian friend seems to have a rather loose interpretation of what constitutes a vouch. This may be due to a problem with the translation, linguistic subtleties or just a plain old misunderstanding. As I would prefer to light a candle rather than curse his darkness, I will enlighten him.
A vouch, particularly when relating to gambling or debt related activities, is a personal guarantee, or surety, against future losses. If you vouch for someone you are cosigning an existing or future liability or their character in general. If the individual you vouched for fails to meet the terms of the indebtedness or behaves in a fashion contrary to the assumed terms, then it's your wallet or your ass. The only people in the world I would truly vouch for live within a 15 mile radius and share a common surname.
If anyone on the board has taken my report of successful wagering on football with Weiss as a vouch as described above, then you now have clarity.
