Registered 2+2 in 2006 or 2007. Can't remember last time I looked at the site. I rely on sites like PFA to filter and rebroadcast the microfraction of worthwhile information that occurs there.

I find 2+2 and Pocketfives to be a crashing bore. 99.9% is crap, misinformation or regurgitation of shit covered 10 years ago. Astounds when I see certain PFA members that I am otherwise impressed with cite 2+2. Sometimes I am grateful that they find and post the rare gem. But at the same time, I wonder how small their life is to be trolling that site.

I have this image of the Discovery show "Gold Rush". Prospectors putting 100's of yards of dirt in the trommel to yield the few flecks of gold.

Malmuth's ban simply makes 2+2 even less interesting.

The recent Hashem cry "poker is dying" while really an unformed and emotional claim nevertheless is a signpost of our times. No fool would have made that claim in 2006. Of course, there is some truth in his rant today.

I am just a fairly typical grinder on some third world US facing site. Play almost ever day for 45 minutes or much more. So I'm interested in the game. I am your target audience & consumer. I am always testing poker podcasts and sites for something fresh but it all has been done and said before - it's just all so fucking dull

What i dont get is why the assburgers guy is insisting that you apologize for posting something on your own site. A site that, per the assburgers guy, no one reads. If the assburgers guy is right and no one reads this site then no one could have been harmed by the post. Why would you need to apologize if you couldn't have harmed the guy. It makes no sense. Once again, I am being banned for something that has nothing to do with his forum.

Mason doesn't like this thread where I originally posted a third-party's accusation regarding the Palms poker manager stealing promo money.

The manager himself showed up, gave his side, and I conclude that it seemed to me that he didn't actually steal promo money. However, many questions still remain regarding the legality of the way the manager used the funds, as well as whether he was violating Palms rules by what he did.

Various people directly or indirectly connected to the matter showed up on PFA to comment on it, and there were people on both sides of the argument.

I retracted the one statement I no longer believed to be true (that he stole anything), but did not issue an actual apology, because I wanted to see the way the entire thing played out. Indeed, there are a lot of unanswered questions that the public deserves answered.

Someone on 2+2 (nobody I know) linked this thread. Owner Mason Malmuth posted a nasty message there, stating that PFA has too small of a readership for anyone to really care about this (not true), and that I owe the guy an apology.

I promised an apology once the situation fully plays out, if I feel an apology is warranted at that point.

Without further warning (or any real developments today), I showed up on 2+2 and found this:



So now Mason is forcing me to make a "full and sincere apology" to a third party that is unconnected to him.

If you remember, my last 2+2 ban was because a friend (not even me) posted some unflattering things about David Sklansky on Neverwinpoker. Again, this was banning me for actions on another site (and not even my site or my actions), but at least you can mildly understand it, because David is an important 2+2 author, and because I was a mod on Neverwinpoker at the time.

Here, Mason is banning me for not apologizing on MY SITE to a guy he probably has never even met before.

I enjoy 2+2, but I'm not going to grovel or let Mason control me. I was providing a lot of good content there, and to be honest, a lot of the good 2+2 posters are long gone nowadays. If Mason thinks 2+2 is better without me, that's fine.

I won't be creating any fake accounts there. I just won't be posting there anymore unless the ban is lifted.

This is probably a win for Lock Poker (as I won't be participating in that thread anymore), but their goose is pretty much cooked anyway, and there are plenty of knowledgable posters in that thread to make up for my absence.

Whether it's because he smells a possible ad deal with someone associated with the story or whether he just wants to make a smaller (but rising) forum look bad, that's the way he operates. As an aside, he's never had quite the balls to ban me for calling him on his crap and I've dared him to do it more than once.

FWIW, I've read all the threads. I doubt there was anything specifically illegal going on. But my takeaway is this (and these are only my opinions):

1) The room manager, Todd or whoever, probably had a miscellaneous promotional budget to do with as he saw fit, and that included shill players. I've been in that room, and it's a nicer room in appearance than the traffic it's been able to draw, and that's an old issue.

2) He wasn't very successful at his ideas at drawing more traffic to the room, and combined with how much he was in the hole on the promo -- maybe more than Sands management realized -- they likely sacked him for a failure to deliver. Think of it as them having given him a blank check to grow the room, and he probably didn't do it. There probably wasn't anything illegal about it; it looks like he just didn't do a good enough job.

3) At least a couple of his employees don't seem to think he was a very good room manager. Then again, that could be sour grapes from either not getting hours or the possibility that the room might close and they lose their jobs, if this Cantor/Palms deal to run it continues to bleed money.

Also: Silly to let yourself get trolled by that other guy. I used to block all that guy's posts here and at DD.

You're making an argument that he didn't do a good job managing the room, perhaps that's the case, and perhaps that's why Palms/Cantor Gaming doesn't employ him anymore. But that's a lot different from accusing someone of stealing. And if you or others want to discuss how this room was run and the quality of the promotions that were offered, this should be done in a different thread.

By the way, I worked for the Federal Government for just over six years, and don't need to be reminded of it.

This would be the normal persons way of reacting. But Druff is a different beast. Online cred is everything to him. As far as I'm concerned this is the most humiliating thing that has ever happened to him in his life. The poor guy finally has become accepted at the competing forum. Then his arch nemesis comes in and ruins it in one single thread...like three posts. To add insult to injury, the grand wizard himself decides to drop kick his ass back to PFL where he belongs. I say we all show up to the 2+3 meetup and kick his fucking ass.
