I've got the Chromecast, I don't really need it with the Xbox One and Apple TV but it's tough to beat for $40.
I'm a Roku fan and if could open this set of Russian nesting dolls, I'd be an even bigger fan.
So I just got a chromecast and I have a question. Is there a way to stream files from my computer to my tv? Like I know I can go in the browser and chrome, but is there a way to run movies I've downloaded that are playing from vlc player or the likes?
For 35 bucks why the fuck not

Pretty sure the answer to this question is no.
I went through this a while ago, trying to stream movies from my desktop to my TV. What I found was the technology was just not there yet, there was major lag and shitty resolution no matter what I used.
I did some research and talked to some sales reps about Chromecast, and from all that I gathered you can watch nothing other than shit through Chrome.

O'rly?
Walk me through this a little if you don't mind. Chrome has a video player that you can stream to your TV by just opening a file in the Chrome browser? Surround sound? High res?
My whole point was I was trying to stream my Cyberlink player instead of hardlining with an HDMI to the TV. If there is something out there that gets close to the same quality I am all for it. The streamers I bought all claimed to do this, but none of them did.
weiss remember when you were ustreaming from that lighthouse you lived in it was siiiiiick me and tapper still talk on the phone about it
