Meet White Swan (WA) high school running back Tony Picard. Hes about to become pretty famous because hes a 64, 400 pound running back. Im not kidding.
According to the Indian Country Today Network, Picard, a senior, is a team captain and has talked to a couple colleges about taking his game to the next level. White Swan coach Andrew Bush took Picard off the line to handle some real offensive duties.
Picard started out as a lineman, and still plays defensive nose tackle, but he was faster than one expected. Bush says this became evident at a football camp a couple of years ago. During time away from football, they would sometimes play a game of basketball.
He was so agile and making shots from way out there, Bush recalls. I said Ive got to use this somehow.
But is he seeing much action?
I kind of make a path for the smaller guys to score and serve as a decoy, Picard says. Despite being a decoy, he has been running for about 80-120 yards per game, and usually scores a touchdown or two.
According to the Northwest Prep report, Picard is part Umatilla-Nez Perce Indian and says he has some Sioux Indian blood too. His nickname: Big Tone.
