Yeah, we've talked about the need to be decked out in Seahawks gear. We're thinking one of us in Oilers hockey colors as an ice breaker/conversation piece, & one in Seahawks gear. Does this sound like a good plan?

If a guy wears Seahawk gear & brings beers to the tailgating will that help us befriend the locals & get invited to their pre-game BBQ/party?

Also I'll be using transit(hopefully rail) from the downtown core to the stadium so do they care if I bring a cooler/case of beer on it?
It just depends on the people really, you have your friendly people and your assholes. Should be able to hop around and get a good taste of both sides, I wouldn't go in thinking if I bring some brewskis they will feed me though.

Definitely get the Hawks jersey, it doesn't hurt that they look so titties.

Ya sorry if I implied they will feed you.

I just mean they will hang out and drink beer with you while asking you questions about igloos, mounties and maple syrup.

But if you get lucky and get in with a good crew they will feed you, give you beers and not stab you.

bringing canadian beer to Seattle is like bringing a day old sammich to the belagio buffet, better off bringing okanogan cider which is true cider and in the usa drinks like this are alcholised with grose malt liquor.

I wouldn't be bringing it from Canada. I'll have to try to find something good, & hopefully Canadian, in Seattle. From what I understand they really like Canadian beers.

I, nor my wife, drink cider so chances are it won't be that although I think your right, that would be a pretty unique Canadian thing to take.

With all due respect, I must disagree. Respected actress Tori Black is from Seattle also.

While we've developed a rep as a tough crowd, it is one of the friendliest you will find pre-game. I'm not sure where the main tailgating group is since they had to move, but it's a fucking riot and you will have a great time. All you have to do is tell people you're Canadian and here to watch the hawks and you'll be welcomed in a big way.

Your seats are phenomenal btw. Except for being on the visitors side they're the best seats in the house. Besides club seats of course.

I started by looking on the home side but missed out on a good pair then saw these on the visitors side & said WTF this is probably better since I'll be able to see coach Carroll do his cheerleader thing. I don't know what these seats go for on the resale market but I'm pretty sure I got a smokin' deal compared to what others around & worse were asking for them.

Really looking forward to the experience & I figured out why I did it.

Because the Seahawks own my face.

Another positive that I had forgotten about is that the Seahawks are my brother's team & I get to rub it in. lol

Very surprised to hear this. I always thought a man with 200k banked only stayed at the Ritz or Four Seasons. Must have been prior to your massive success in life.
Hotels are worthless. I have never stayed in a 4 Seasons.

Here is a funny. I stayed at a high end Marriot a few weeks ago and the chick I was with blasted a shit. I heard it and she ran the water to disguise it.

Best place to buy Canadian beer is at the duty free when going into the USA, we spend every weekend in Washington during the summer, and do bring slemans honey brown ail and peach cider other than that the only thing we bring into the USA is cash which almost got us into trouble. This summer we exchanged 10k to bring with us (I am in the process of renovating our cabin) and for some reason the border guard asked how much in the car I said 9500 he pulled us in and scrutinized us for 2 hrs and indicated that 500 more they would have confiscated the money, they also asked why we dident have check or money order, I said the currency and bullion exchange had better rate.
I enjoy Washington it is a excellent state legal weed I think if you like that kind of stuff. Red hook Long hammer
Ale is one of my favorite beers so far.

They were asking almost double for tickets right beside these & my first thought was it's too good to be true but it was on Ticketmaster's website so I went with it.

I was out for lunch when the discussion turned to if we were going to do anything in the next couple months. I'm just in the midst of a stretch where I'm working 8 out of 10(6 of the next 8) weeks & we were trying to decide whether we were going to do something in late November after this stretch is over.

We discussed Vegas & the fact we're already going next April & if we wanted to go in the meantime to unwind. I kiboshed that because, although I like Vegas, there were other places I'd never been & don't really consider Vegas as a place to unwind. I kinda had my heart set on going to Columbus(we have friends there) & taking in a hockey game or 2 & my hometown team happens to be there at the time. We didn't really want to impose on them & the subject turned to other sports vacations & the fact we've never been to an NFL game & the fact that we're going to a CFL game on Saturday. Seattle wasn't really on my radar, San Francisco was, until my wife mentioned it & we decided that I should do some research & come up with a plan.

Well, within 40 minutes I had bought the Seahawks tickets, booked flights on Alaska Airlines & am now actively looking for accommodations & other things to do for the first week in Nov. & not Dec. after this stretch of work as we had discussed. Any thoughts on hotels & activities for Oct 31st - Nov 4th would be appreciated BTW. I informed my wife what I had already done & her reaction was:

Looking forward to the NFL & especially the Seahawks experience, leaving the game early & watching a miraculous Seahawk comeback from the hotel lounge.

BTW what the fuck is tailgating? I have a lot to learn in the next month lol.
BTW what the fuck is tailgating?

Holy shit man, no offense, but I have never heard of anyone who didn't know what tailgating is!

You my friend, are missing out.

Im not sure what level of seriousness other teams make tailgating, but in Packer country, it is essential and taken pretty seriously. We generally treat it as an unattachable part of the game. Some people going to the game wont always tailgate, but nonetheless, if you miss tailgating, it seems like you are missing part of the game.

And believe it or not, some people who don't even have tickets for the game, will go to the parking lot simply to tailgate, and then leave after the game gets going....and then those people will generally hit the bars or something to watch the game.

Anyway, your thread reminds me that I never posted a trip report when I went to Seattle a couple of months back

Even though im sure I forgot a few things, I will try to post a TR in the next few days of my vacation.

I've already admitted in this thread that I've led a very sheltered life, what more can I say. lol

I'm the one who brought up tailgating in the OP so I've obviously heard of it & know what it is but have no idea how it works.
It says on the Seahawks website that there is no drinking while tailgating but I assume nobody takes that seriously? As long as you're not out of control do they bother you? Should any alcohol be hidden in a cup or flask & not just a beer can?
Are there booths that sell food or do you have to bring your own?
Is Seattle really serious about their tailgating? What time do you show up for a 1PM local time game?

    Any hints would be appreciated.

A few things we're considering doing:

    Bill Speidel's underground tour
    http://www.undergroundtour.com/

Seattle's Attraction Pass. Probably not time to do everything but would should I not miss from the list?
Space Needle, Seattle Aquarium, Argosy Cruises Harbor Tour, Pacific Science Center, EMP Museum, Woodland Park Zoo or The Museum of Flight
    http://www.travelzoo.com/local-deals...tainment/62211

    Pike Place Market tour:

Also looking for a great seafood restaurant in the downtown area. Thoughts?

Im not sure of the Seahawks tailgating rules. Just so we're on the same page, Im from Wisconsin in Packer country. Iv been to Seattle and been to a couple of Mariners games but haven't been to a Seahawks game, so im not really sure on any of their rules. Those questions might be better answered by Tony Bagadonuts

Iv never heard though of a football team allowing tailgating, but no drinking. To me, that is just insane...and it partially defeats the whole purpose of tailgating imo.
I would imagine though that it would be practically impossible for them to enforce this, as anyone can probably just put their alcoholic beverage in a cup or something.

I dont know if they would have booths outside that sell food, but probably not. Any of the places iv tailgated, its generally bring your own food, grill, drinks etc.

I'm just relaying what it says on the Seahawks website. I'm sure nobody, including the Seahawks, take it seriously.

I'm not really planning on eating so this shouldn't be an issue. I just want to bring some brews & party with the locals & soak it all in but at the same time fit in & not piss anybody off.

Here is a pretty good link detailing the main tailgating communities among Seahawk fans.

    http://seattle.cbslocal.com/2012/11/...ilgating-lots/

Start with Hawk Alley right next to the stadium with Hawk One, and if you want more action head south to Seahawks Tailgate command center. Be friendly and you'll be welcomed like a long lost Canadian relative.

There is plenty of grub for sale all around the stadium so that is not a concern. You cannot have an open container of booze, so you need to keep that on the down low.

Even at the tailgating events put your booze in a blue plastic cup, like you're at a kegger and you should be fine. Don't carry around your booze like a stupid ass as you'll put everyone at risk and look like a real noob.

The stadium has metal detectors, so if you can do a plastic flask that should work for the day.

Keep your booze low and your spirits high and you'll have a great time.

Also I noticed that tailgating starts at between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.

Since the first season in the new building in fall of 2004, I think we've tailgated 2 or 3 times. It's a lot of fun, especially as a one off, but for me it makes a long day longer and it's just too much drinking.

I've worked to pull the throttle back a bit at these games over the years as historically my Mondays in the fall have been a fucking nightmare on a good day. With jr coming to every game, it's important to strike a good balance. We still get it on, but I honestly have no interest in every getting ham sauced, let alone shit faced, ever again.

It will happen, but I avoid it if at all possible.

I'm with you here. I'm planning on being there about 10:30 & don't plan on getting shit faced. I just want to experience it just like I want to experience the game which wouldn't happen if I was in the bag before the game.
