The whole thing about him allegedly having people murdered isn't proven yet either just that he looked into hiring a hit man who he may or may not have paid and who may or may not have ripped him off.

As for the sellers on Silk Road I'm sure many can easily get rid of their merchandise in other ways but the wise thing now would probably be to gtfo of the country if Tor's security is in fact breached.
Lol, I meant how is it possible to get a $1,000/mo apartment in San Francisco, one of the most expensive cities in the US.

Most of us here have that same theory so the question becomes why did he stick around if he felt the FBI was on to him? The signs were there and he didn't seem to care so did he feel they didn't have a strong enough case against him? Was it cockiness, greed, or just stubbornness aka stupidity that he wouldn't back down that kept him in the USA?

Why did he stay is the burning question I would love to know yet likely we won't ever get an answer about.

OH LOL, my bad. That must have been some dump of a place to stay at in SF with all the money coming in but perhaps he chose it in hopes to not draw attention to himself.

I'm sure it's been raided by now which I'd love to know what they found inside. This guy had $3.5 million in bitcoins that they were able to seize but it says over $80 million in commissions were paid out so he has money stashed away somewhere.

    It said he had roommates.

I am guessing the apartment was like $3,000, and his share was $1,000.

There's especially no way it could be a $1,000 apartment if it was big enough to house both him and roommates.

I thought that the Federal 30pg document stated that he was known by his roommates as Josh.

I forgot about the roommates but wasn't completely buying into that. So if he did in fact have them where are they now? Clearly they must have been in on this or had suspicions about DPR because the guy is loaded but he has to be hiding the money somehow yet still spending a bit as well.

Section iv on page 29 of that Federal report says he sublet the appt and lived with two other roommates who knew him as "Josh".

“What we’re doing isn’t about scoring drugs or ‘sticking it to the man.’ It’s about standing up for our rights as human beings and refusing to submit when we’ve done no wrong.” -Ross William Ulbricht while still masked as Dread Pirate Roberts

Today I woke to the SwC chat buzzing with shouts of “SilkRoad Shutdown!” and claims that this image is now the entire site:

Andy Greenberg’s article about the SilkRoad closure on Forbes quickly determined the information was unfortunately true. For those paying attention, Andy Greenberg did an interview with the man only known as “Dread Pirate Roberts” only months earlier.

We learned today that Dread Pirate Roberts has a government name of Ross William Ulbricht. The exact reason why his true identity became known and his site became compromised is still unclear at this early stage, but one Redditor is not afraid to stab a guess based on this posting of a sealed complaint by Brian Krebs, a security specialist and the frequent target of Russian Credit Card scammer-pranks.

It is clear SilkRoad is gone, so today I’ll pour one out for Dred Pirate Roberts, aka Ross William Ulbricht. Also I’ll fire up a joint of the finest OGK to have with my morning green tea, coconut water, and granola with almond milk. I’ll play SealsWithClubs while wearing my Silk Road logo’d shirt just as I did all summer long at the WSOP.

Today I will try hard to embody the Camus quote that by no mistake appears at the beginning and end of this article:

“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.”

    bryan micon, freedom fighter!

i usually feel sorry for micon and at some times like him, but shit like the above really makes him easy to hate. what a pompous windbag.

Typical Micon "Well that guy got arrested because he was a lazy disorganised idiot, but not me, o no, I wont be getting arrested any time soon"

Someone is now speculating that the FBI TAKEDOWN screen on SR's home page was put up by the SR ADMIN, and not the FBI, which could mean that maybe there IS another Captain out there, and he shut the site down, and is waiting for things to cool down.

Even if it's back if the information about Tor being watched/compromised is correct then who the hell wants to risk making any transactions on that site right now?

    good point.

One guy commented that if you had a back up address installed, this was the back up plan so that you could now withdraw any funds you had on there.

People are wondering if anyone has tried to withdraw their funds using their back up addresses.

Notice that the US Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York is involved again.

They sure are busy over there.
