    myriad sex jokes

depictions of raw sewage and feces on a worker's body

You think that Rockstar has sold 125 million copies of previous GTA games exclusively to middle schoolers?

No. It was also sold to high schoolers and college students.

No way. The new consoles come out in 2 months. There is absolutely no evidence that they will release GTA5 for them.

The crazy thing is that Rockstar's engine developers have mastered the current generation hardware so thoroughly that the graphics for GTA5 look better than virtually all of the next generation launch titles.

I am not a big FPS fan at all, but this trailer got my attention-

Battlefield 4 will release for PC, PS3, and XB360 at the end of October, and then for the new consoles at their launches a few weeks later.

First off, If I was Rockstar I would do EVERYTHING in my power to not have any evidence that a PS4 version would be released. If it was announced now they could potential lose 100s of millions from people waiting before purchasing it.

As for evidence here are some articles that make a case for it

    http://tech2.in.com/news/gaming/gran...ation-4/892538

    http://www.vg247.com/2013/09/16/gta-...e-code-report/

It also would be bad business to release a PC version if you were going to come out with a PS4 version. There would be a lot of people that would buy a PS4 just for a PS4 version of grand theft auto. If you allowed them to buy the PC version they may be less likely to buy a PS4 console and the PS4 version of the game.

That is just a minor point. The more obvious point is that they could make 100s of millions by releasing two versions. They may wait a year (so people dont bitch) to do it but I almost 100 percent sure it happens.

I bet they release the PS4 version first and then a PC version after

For World War 4 they'll draft based on your Battlefield X ranking.

GTA5 did $800 million in sales on its first day. The highest grossing movie ever earned $200M in its first 3 day weekend.

Do people really compare box office tickets to video games? seems apples to oranges to me. Not trying to take away from either one either here, although it seems movies are becoming dinosaurs as far as entertainment goes. Sure if you wanna space out for 90 minutes go for it but TV is taking over the game as far as I can tell.

They are both entertainment products. It puts the GTA5 launch into perspective that it's massively larger than anything the movie industry has ever created.

They also charge like 6x the amount for their product, I've never looked into it but how much would something like GTA5 cost production wise to put out?

It's about an equal investment to compare a major blockbuster movie with a major game release like GTA or COD / Battlefield, Madden. The same guys that work on movies like the Hobbit go on to work at places like EA as modelers, animators, story editors, etc. Same time commitment exists as well. It takes like 4 years to build out a game like that from the ground up. Then you have to promote it through the same channels that movies are promoted, so same expense there too.

Kind of wondering here; has there ever been a videogame release trailer shown at a movie theater? I think I would pee my kilt if somewhere between the promo for Scary Movie 17 and Rocky 100 they show a long form trailer for the next version of Fallout.

$150M development budget and $160M advertising budget. They have made that back already and will profit $16-$20 for each further unit sold. They haven't even gotten to the first weekend yet.

plus I saw cmoney mentioning the cleverness of their ways to pop this before ps4 rolls out, so you can still bang out a bunch more dollars for that release.

    well played rockstar

I remember seeing a trailer for Modern Warfare 3 or 4 when I went to see No Country For Old Men several years ago...

That would be the other thing that games try to have in common with movies is the vertical marketing structure. With movies you have a theatrical release, PPV, on demand, Blu Ray, DVD then Cable and what have you. With games it's PSx, xbox, PC then DLC and MMO where they hit you up monthly (in some cases).

The gameplay is truly amazing. It is unfortunate that it is handicapped by the PS3 hardware though. The graphics could be so much better. People who dont use PCs for games with high end graphics cards will not notice because they have nothing to compare it to. But there is no comparison between the two. The modern PC with a decent graphics cards destroys the PS3. The video sequences really add to the game and look like what we are used to in high gaming PCs. This is because they dont rely of the game engine/processing power to render on the fly and takes advantage of modern motion capture, sick modelling etc. However, a lot of textures of the characters and environment are bland. One of the most noticeable things is that objects in the distance (cars, houses, people) are not sharp until you get close to them. And even then many just dont have much too them. This is all comes down to the graphics card. To be fair, Rockstar does as much as they possiblly can in terms of milking the hardware for all that it is worth. I really do hope they release this for PS4 or PC as I feel better graphics would make it a lot better experience. This could be the first game that uses the Oculus Rift to its full potential that fully transports you to a massive fully active world. Imagine having a gun controller, a Oculus rift and being in this world. It would be unreal.
