Well hopefully not too serious but sometimes you re-aggravate the other leg again favoring it because of the new injury.

He has lost his last 3 fights and is clearly not in the top tier of contenders anymore. At 34, he's not going to make it back into that category.

Horrible submission defense by Henderson. He deserved to lose.

I went a respectable 8-4 overall on my picks. 4-1 on the main card with only Vera losing, which wasn't a huuuuge surprise, & 4-3 on the undercard, so not terrible. I was a little surprised how Gaudinot was manhandled by Elliot but not shocked when Varner lost to Tibau. I have to question Varner's fight IQ for taking the fight to the ground in the third when he had him hurt & was finally getting to him & obviously needed to finish the fight but that's why I normally pick against Varner.

Hopefully TJ Grant is next to get his shot that he earned but I have a feeling it will be Aldo after Pettis recovers.

Anyways here's the post fight presser if anyone missed it:

BTW congrats to c$ & anyone else who got action down on Pettis.

Dude it was just high level. Everyone that trains with BH says they thought he would never get tapped. The thing about Pettis is because his stand up is so good everyone sleeps on his jits, but ask Guida he said he never faced anyone with as tricky of a guard as Pettis.

The Camus fight should have been the clear fotn winner. The kraus fight was ok but it was quick and not worthy of fotn or even close to being considered for it.

Haven't seen fights yet but genuinely interested to see the arm bar. So rare to see a high level fighter get caught by them anymore which makes it even more impressive of a win.

I think they did a breakdown of Rousy-Kaufmann(?) & explained about how you have to "stack" your opponent & put all your weight on them & basically wait it out to get out of an armlock of this type. Benson should have watched it before the fight. Every Rousy opponent should watch that video just before getting in the cage with her.

This reminded me of the Menjivar-Gashimov bout when Menjivar almost tore his arm off when he got it to belly down. There's just no way out of it unless the guys grip slips somehow.

once you get your hips in the right position, its game over. pettis is good enough to throw his hips as henderson tried to throw an elbow, that was all he needed. i wouldnt discount the damage henderson took to his left ribs as also factoring into his inability to escape it. but mostly its pettis fighting in bullet time when everyone around him is not.

as for the rousey armbar defense tangent, there is simply no defending against someone who has mastered the technique. its just math. if youre lucky, they let you stack up and take the pressure off, but someone like rousey, who has been doing armbars since she was 8 years old, shes going to know the solutions. its like being in a losing endgame position against a chess master. maybe youll get lucky and they will just fuck up, but its probably not going to be something you can facilitate.

    Doesn't deserve it's own thread:

Looks like TJ Grant is out for Pettis's first defence & Thompson is getting it Dec 14th.

Don't know why they'd announce Grant as the next challenger when he cleary has not been cleared for anything due to post-concussion syndrome.

No one wants to fight Pettis. The guy doesnt want to fight 6 months after a concussion? Thats just chicken shit.

Pretty tough to accept a fight when you're still suffering from post-concussion syndrome. They have to start the promotion now for a December card. It would be chicken shit to accept & start a promotion not knowing whether you could fight come December & just hoping you could start training.

Its not my fault you cant handle the truth. You only have a small window as a fighter. You cant pass up a chance at the belt for a concussion you got rolling with a training partner 6 months later. You pass it up and theres a good chance you never get that chance again.

Shouldnt Melendaz be the one getting the shot? He was close to beating BH. I know GM isnt scurred. Thompsons a tough guy bet he wont make it into the 2nd round, but then again who has. That fuckin Guida smurf thats who.

    No.
He was close to beating BH.
No he wasn't. He clearly lost & I was surprised it was a SD. He was outstruck in every round.
    I know GM isnt scurred.
You're pretty stupid to think TJ Grant is scared just like anybody else would be stupid to think Melendez would be scared. It's just not true & is about the most disrespectful thing to ever insinuate about a fighter.
Thompsons a tough guy bet he wont make it into the 2nd round
I don't think he does either.
but then again who has. That fuckin Guida smurf thats who.
So...... are you trying to say Guida should possibly get the shot? If so, fuck that.

Melendez hasnt looked great lately even in his wins (Aoki domination not included), plus he dropped his fight with Bendo.

To be clear, Im a huge Melendez fan. But he has to show me something before I want to watch him get broken down by Pettis for 25 minutes.
