Francona on Manny Ramirez: "Best right-handed hitter I've ever seen," quirks and all

    http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index...irez_best.html

"Jim Leyland and I had this conversation earlier in the year," said Francona. "I asked him where would you rate Manny vs. Miguel Cabrera. He said, "Boy, Miggy is pretty good.' I don't think Manny has ever had a season like Miggy is having right now, but he was probably the best right-handed hitter I had ever seen."

    Pretty interesting quote.

    Here's another..

"Our strength coach had this mini-hula hoop. It had Wiffle balls intertwined into it about every eight inches. He'd flip it to Manny and as he did he'd spin it. Manny was in his batting stance and the guy would go, "blue!' and Manny would not only catch it, but catch on the color or number he called out.

"I'd watch it every once in a while and when he would be grab the correct ball, that night, look out. . .I don't know how he did it."

    Manny was a freak.

Another interesting read with Gabe Kaplar on Fox Sports Live comparing Puig's antics to Manny's:
Will 'Puig Being Puig' Become the New 'Manny Being Manny'?

Damn Tigers been stinking it up the past few days against the A's I'm not going to lie but shit happens.

Oh well, hopefully tomorrow with Scherzer they get it together.

Drunk as hell but no throwing up half home but my pager still blowing up.. . Today I didn't even have to use my AK! I got to say it was a good day!

BNB didn't take the Miggy / Manny bait. Not even a nibble.

    NLCS - Braves vs Dodgers

Tighten up the Dodgers rotation to Kershaw/Greinke two games each and Dodgers win series.

ALCS - Red Sox vs Tigers

Hats off to Chinamaniac thread title

Verlander/Scherzer bink. Only hope is that Verlander continues his spotty performance. Sox will prolly be down a quick 2-0. Will Buchholz be available?

Lester vs Fister & Lackey vs Sanchez tie the series up 2-2.
Neither team has a lights out lock it up closer situation. Maybe the Tigers have a leak here. Prolly not.

Bottom line I will predict Dodgers vs Tigers in the World Series.

    Good rebuilding year for Sox.

i think that detroit is going to be vulnerable in the post season. verlander has been off all year, and you really can't expect scherzer to carry the load. sanchez is prolly their best pitcher right now

I'm on StatClash trying to figure out why I'm not getting credit for Victor Martinez scoring a run when torii hit the HR behind him. It then dawned on me that they must have pinch run for him because he would have been the tying run. DUHHHHHH.

OH YEAH.. Max Scherzer the luckiest pitcher in baseball but the team delivers being down 6-1 to comeback.

HUNTER COMING AT YOU, HIDE YOUR WIVES!

I tip my cap to the A's over the past four days. Their hitting was insanely hot in this series and if they are able to hit like that in the playoffs (probably not sustainable) then good luck to anyone who plays them.

Miggy sore but he will be back maybe not tomorrow but soon. He's been like 75% for a while now yet that is better then almost anyone in the league.

Nice respect from the Boston fans though in Iglesias return.

    Painful. Just painful.

Brilliant season saving trade by the Tigers. The kid, Iggy, is the real deal. Was hitting .400 in Boston too.

Good win for Tigers, allowing Cabbie & ARod time to discuss joint deterioration & other side effects. Good teaching moment for Jhonny.

Lester vs Scherzer. No excuses. 19-2

Scherzer. Honestly haven't seen him this year. Mercy. 98mph 7 s/o 5th inning. Great command. Not electric.

A pitcher's pitcher. Hats off to him.

Sox batters have seen him twice.

    Red Sox lead 2-1

Thank God Eckersley is in the booth.

Scherzer was on for a while then fell apart a bit. Good news for the Red Sox is that Phil Coke is warming up in the Detroit bullpen

LOL Thought the same thing when I saw him warming up, actually the last I remember from him they sent him down to the minors, I didn't know he was back already.
