    UFC 164 Henderson-Pettis 2 Discussion Thread

Big week for the UFC with 3 shows in 8 days but this is probably the crowning jewel of the week & the one most are looking forward to. Hopefully it lives up to the Condit-Kampmann UFN card the other night.

Here's the card & my picks:

    Benson Henderson vs. Anthony Pettis
If Pettis is over his knee injury I think he finishes him this time. If not, it could be a long night. KO2
    Frank Mir vs. Josh Barnett
I don't want to go against Mir but I think Barnett is too fast for him. KO1 KOTN
    Chad Mendes vs. Clay Guida
Hopefully Guida doesn't run to a UD loss. I hate Guida anyway & always thought it looked like he was doing more because of his hair. UD3
    Ben Rothwell vs. Brandon Vera
We'll see if Vera has a future, because if he loses this, there's no sense continuing. Hunt couldn't knock Ben out so I can't see Vera doing it. UD3
    Erik Koch vs. Dustin Poirier
I think Koch is overrated. Unfortunately so is Poirier IMO. 2 young guys that need to be impressive to get back in the mix means FOTN candidate. Sub3
    Gleison Tibau vs. Jamie Varner
I've picked against Varner everytime. Now that I've picked him, he'll probably lose. KO1
    Tim Elliott vs. Louis Gaudinot
He beat John Lineker. Enough said. UD3
Pascal Krauss vs. Hyun Gyu Lim
No idea. All I know is Lim submitted Rogan in practice so that has to be worth something. Sub1 SOTN(lol)
Chico Camus vs. Kyung Ho Kang
Kang lost to Caceres but was overturned. Camus was beating Kimura until he got subbed so if he can keep it standing. KO2
    Nikita Krylov vs. Soa Palelei
    Palelei has power. KO1
    Ryan Couture vs. Al Iaquinta
I think Couture is getting thrown to the wolves. Iaquinta isn't a world beater but I think he's a bad matchup for him. KO2
    Magnus Cedenblad vs. Jared Hamman
Way more experience against way better opposition. Cedenblad was only in the UFC to fill out the Sweden card with locals IMO. KO1

What do you think? Will this card live up to the billing or will it be a snoozefest?

I still haven't watched the Wednesday one. But from the lineups I always thought the Weds one was better than this one, although it could surprise me.

I put a sizable wager on Pettis.

btw, as of Wednesday Cantor Gaming (which runs most of the casinos sportsbooks on the strip) will not take more than 500 bucks a fight.

I have had get some friends run around to a bunch of random casinos last 24 hours just to place my pettis bet.

Cantor must have taken a bath on the UFC or something.

I'll be cheering for you c$. Just so you know, the rumor is Pettis's knee isn't quite healed yet & that could be the wildcard in this.

What are the odds on Pettis? I see +100 on Pettis and -120 on BenHen.

So do I. From what I've been told Pettis's camp doesnt think this will even be a tough fight for him. I'd be suprised if BH lats more then a round or 2. His only hope is he can hold Pettis down which from what I hear Askren cant even do. Dont be suprised if Pettis outwrestles BH and takes the wrestling to him.

lol at this. How many people in Pettiss camp do you know? I know a few, and unless they are bold face liars then the knee is fine. That doesnt mean he wont reaggravate it during the fight but going in its not an issue.

You really think Weds card was better? This is one of the deepest cards in a long time. Theres prelim fights that should be ppv fights. I could be bias but this card was great before Pettis was on it now its just insane.

    Don't be a dickhead.

I never said I knew any info from their camp, that's why it's called a rumor. Then you go on to say he may reaggravate it during the fight which is basically what I said about it being possibly not quite healed yet & might be the wildcard in this. Knee injuries are funny things, one misstep & it comes back to haunt you.

Definitely looks like a sick card.

Thats not what you said. You said the rumor was its not healed, and from what i know which isnt 100% of course but I believe it to be is thats not true. People are wagering money on this so I think they should know what we believe to be the truth.

As far as not being a dick thats impossible you should know that by now.

Throw some money on Bovada. You get 1 free withdrawl a month, and it took me like a week to get mine.

The one thing about the check from them is it says you cant cash it. You have to deposit it which might be an issue for someone betting big amounts, but for me it means nothing.

I actually said not quite healed which means , to most people, that it may be a problem because it could be reaggravated easier than normal, or it may not be a problem at all. It's a wildcard in this fight & you have to admit that. I've reaggravated injuries that felt 100% fine just climbing stairs or getting out of a vehicle.

If it's not an issue I think Pettis wins this fairly easily. He may win it anyway if he does aggravate it as long as it doesn't hinder him too badly.

Sucks I am stuck going to a boring wedding tonight. Really wanted to see this rematch.

As for the other fights I like Mir at +150.

guys there seems to be some confusion here; if clay guida is on a card, that card is not good.

lets try to stay on the same page folks.

I agree/disagree. They put Guida on the card to balance their 3 bet range.

I just hope Henderson vs Pettis lives up to it's potential which means it could be the fight of the year regardless who wins.

Mendes should run over Guida and hopefully Rowell sends Vera out of UFC as he has no business fighting on a PPV card.
