Being a "Eurohomo" or whatever the term is I have only had a fleeting interest in baseball in the past, but this season I cant get enough of it, it's my new favorite sport! Jesus Christ sometimes I'm watching two games at once, it's fucking awesome! I watched the all of the recent Orioles/Red Sox series of games including yesterdays mammoth 17 innings monster, what a game! When I'm deciding who to watch I always get drawn to 3 teams, the Red Sox, the Giants and the Yankees, I know the Yankees are like your version of our Manchester United, everyone hates them right? Does everyone hate the Red Sox too? Why? I am leaning towards them being the team I support.

    Uhh no.

Everyone outside of New York and Boson hates them, don't know what country you have been living in.

To answer drop kick, yes we ALL hate the Yankees and Red Sox, because they have ruined the sport with their ridiculous spending and buying postseason appearances year after year.

Ruined the sport? There wouldn't be a sport if it wasn't for the Yankees or Red Sox. Yes both teams overspend, but you have to look like why they can spend more money then anyone else. Why they have the income that they do.

If smaller teams like the Orioles, BlueJays, Rays, had more money. Do you think they would not spend it?

The reason why I'm drawn to them is a while ago I watched the 30 for 30 documentary about the 2004 semi final against the Yankees, one of the best sports things I have ever seen and it piqued my interest in the sport as a whole, I'm trying to learn as much about the history of it as I can and hadn't really come across much hate for them before, I knew they were underachievers with that curse of the Bambino thing.

btw the 30 for 30 one about the Chicago Cubs fan who interfered with the catch was awesome too, Jesus I felt sorry for that guy.

Yea man. I got to say baseball really is a great sport. Many people are die hard for their teams because they grew up with them. It's like a family thing. I guess you can always say that for all sports.

The 30 for 30 docs really are awesome. The RedSox and Cubs doc is awesome. I felt so bad for the Cubs fan. He did what any other fan would of done, but the television didn't help him out at all either.

Actually I have to retract my statement about there wouldn't be a league without the Yanks and Sox, because we know there def would be. I guess what I wanted to say is that I don't feel baseball would be as big as it is, without those markets.

Im a Giants fan and it's hard to defend the Dodgers. But calling them an eastcoast traitor transplant team at this point is the most retarded fucking thing Ive ever fucking heard in my life. East Coast people are such pompous fucking faggots it makes me sick.

I don't know why someone would say the Giants are a transplant team. They haven't been in NY in over 50 years. Didn't they leave in like 56 or 57?

Only team I hate is the Yankees. Boston had a long suffering fanbase until their recent success, and they have no choice but to engage in the salary arms race with the Yankees to compete. Really, I mostly hate MLB's failure to implement a salary cap for creating the current mess where a few teams are spending 6 times what another market can. I wouldn't mind a little free market disparity, but it's silly at this point that certain teams are essentially farm teams who can never re-sign their developed players.

Who in the hell ever called the Dodgers an East Coast transplant team??

    Calm down.

And agreed with all about the salary cap, but yet again thank the cartel called the MLBPA for that one.

Using 6toedpete as a reference is worse then using the 9th Circuit Court in California when citing past decisions trying to set a precedent. Everyone else in the country just laughs at them just like everyone here laughs at 'Ol Pete. When Druff is chuckling at you on radio, you are probably a crazy psycho.

This isn't true. The Red Sox and Yankees have a huge fanbase all over the country. The reason they get hate is because they are good teams and other fans get jealous. Instead of having a complete indifference (like people do for the Milwaukee Brewers or the Colorado Rockies) the Red Sox and Yankees are loathed by otehr fan-bases; this doesn't mean they are not the two most popular teams in the sport across the country.
