what the hell is his attorney thinking admitting raymer is guilty??? i mean sure he is guilty but you don't tell the world (and the potential jury pool) that. dude is rich. he should be telling the DA that he will spend millions fighting the charges and forcing the DA to expend significant time and resources that the DA's office can't afford. so either drop the charges or offer a non-sex offender plea deal. instead his own attorney just destroyed his defense. wow. and isn't raymer an attorney? dude should know better.

Don't really care about this "crime" one way or the other, and does not affect my opinion of Raymer, although I am disgusted by the police department wasting resources on this sh*t.

I guess the moral of this story is even if you are going to use Backpage to find prostitutes, you should still double check the erotic review and only pick girls that have a lot of positive reviews and avoid unreviewed providers.

vegas youre right but im not saying he can win at trial. if it's on tape and there isnt a procedural or constitutional law fuck up by the police he will almost certainly lose at trial (unless the prosecutor is incompetent or the judge or a juror is a fossilman fanboy). but the power of having money in a situation like this is the ability to present to the state a possible war of attrition that the state will have to fight just to get a conviction for a relatively harmless crime. state makes a cost benefit analysis and sometimes says fuck that noise, "here's a plea offer". state has no motivation to do that now that raymers attorney just told the whole world his client is guilty. perry mason shoulda said either "my client looks forward to clearing his good name in a court of law no matter how long it takes for justice to be done. in the meantime, please give my client and his family some space" or "no comment".

What you are charged with at the police station does not really matter. What matters is what actually goes down in court, which will probably be nothing.

Chances are his lawyer has already talked to the DA, and the admission/apology is part of the deal.

I think it is an interesting to speculate on what the % of adult men in the US who have ever solicited a prostitute is? I think it is definitely in the double digits. If you include paying a little extra at the end of a massage for a happy ending, I think the number could reach 50%.

I guess the moral of the story is, who cares? Why are we moralizing and making a big deal of a guy getting entrapped by the police doing something that a high % of guys do and most people don't even find immoral in the first place?

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- A former winner of the World Series of Poker was arrested in a male prostitution sting at a Wake Forest hotel earlier this week, according to police.

A Wake Forest Police Department spokesperson said Gregory Paul Raymer, 48, was one of six men who responded to an advertisement posted by undercover police on a website often used by prostitutes.

Raymer nicknamed "Fossilman," is best known for winning the 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Bond for the men was set at $1000.

Greg was a patent attorney before he became successful in poker. I wouldn't count on him getting fucked by the justice system, the man has resources and he is well liked by the community, expect him to fight back (and I hope he kicks ass)
