I've never questioned your justifications, or if what you did was overly ethical, I'm just trying to let you know that you did break the law, and the fact they contacted you should make you want to get this behind you really fast. I sort of told you this the other day and you just laughed it off, but I know someone who got into deep shit for accepting an auto insurance check he knew was wrong, and he was using the same line of thought you are
There are strong laws against insurance and bank fraud.

That's how people taking advantage of these industries get prosecuted.

There are no such laws on the books involving accepting erroneous money from illegally-operating, foreign gambling sites.

Very impressed with the amount of people on the internet who have had time to get their JD and their MD. It's incredible!

BTW, Daniel Tzvetkoff rolled Stars and Full Tilt for $100 million, and the only thing that US authorities cared about was the fact that he was processing payments for them.

They didn't care about the thefts themselves.

Druff, why do you try to spin everything to make it ok in your eyes. In its simplist form the guy stole the money. A crime was committed. It wasn't like it was a mistake and the guy never noticed the money. He went on the Internet and fucking bragged about it and was proud. And you were too!

Yes, I'm sure PLOL is going to lose a lot of sleep about that one, because there are barely any other poker tournaments he could possibly play in the world.

I wasn't proud of the bragging, but I don't blame him at all for the act itself.

He stole back from a site that stole from him, me, and just about every US player on this site.

I am not big on returning "stolen" money to thieves.

I literally have no intention of playing Stars live events.

Also, from a legal standpoint, this is money received during the time when PokerStars was operating illegally.

The fact that they're not even making idle legal threats to PLOL shows that even Stars knows how laughable it is that they could ever recover this money legally.

So he should send back $1100 to a foreign company that unabashedly stole millions from US players through FPPs?

    Great plan.

Something to be proud of doing and tell your grandkids about.

fuck no, he should have kept it...fuck stars

but again you miss the point, my carb deprived chubby friend. You should have maybe locked the thread and stated that you dont approve of such behavior, even though you privately do...

its all about perception, and i can see how you can come across as a hypocrite to some people

even though you come across as a socially inept fat fuck, sorry about the personal attack, couldnt help myself, you are building quite a reputation as a crusader, its all about branding...druff, think long term

It wasn't illegal for you play though, so the money was obtained legally. The DOJ allowed Stars to return these "legal" funds to players. They sent you that e-check legally. You can try to spin it any way you want, but the simple solution is "I fucked up by posting this on the Internet and now I'm going to give it back before this gets even more out of hand."

No it just shows they are trying to settle it via the easiest path. If he refuses the threats will get more implicit. Why do you think they gave him 14 days, they just pull it out of the air for shits and giggles, or because their lawyers say the person has 14 day to make restitution? Pretty sure Stars doesn't want to drag this into court, but if he continues his flippant attitude I'd gladly take that 100-1 offer he made the other day.

It's pretty standard when someone owes money: "Write to the person (or company) giving them 14 days to repay what they owe (from the date of your letter). If payment is not received within the 14 days, legal proceedings will follow. Send a Final Demand at 28 days"
