Of their choosing? Sounds like a bookkeeping issue. If they are like most large companies, they probably already donate plenty to charity. So in real terms you're asking them to send (a portion of) the returned stolen money to charity and reduce the amount they would have otherwise donated to that same charity by the exact amount. You go, PLOL. I hope they accept your "demand"!

I am aware, and I acknowledged this in the e-mail I sent them. I simply asked for a screenshot of the receipt. If they choose to give less money to charity because of this donation, then that's their choice and I have no say on that.

I got the idea from when Lee Jones asked the guy who threatened him with a waffle iron to make a charitable donation to the Heffer foundation in order to be allowed back on PokerStars

    $11

If anybody won a part of the $11 and is uncomfortable with it, feel free to send it back or re-donate it.

I actually think a better use of the money would be to "refund" people whose FPPs were stolen by Stars.

Start a thread on 2+2 where people can post screen shots of their remaining FPPs and you'll send it to them on Paypal (or I'll even do it if you send the money to me).

That will humiliate Stars and make you look like a good guy at the same time.

I don't think making demands when you've actually committed a crime is the smartest way to go. But what do I know there is 0.0 chance they come after him anyway

    They won't come after him.

He doesn't have to make any demands.

He can just start a thread on 2+2 that he's paying out everyone for the FPPs Stars stole on a first come, first served basis.

They already contacted him this morning. What do you think the E-Mail said, "pretty please give the money back?"

Actually, pretty much. The e-mail was very cordial and they didn't even demand to have the money back. They basically said it came to their attention that I have $1,100 that they believe I am not entitled to, and if I would like to give it back to contact them and they will give me more info on how to return the money". The e-mail contained no threats.

And what do you think would have been the follow-up response to "Fuck You"?

They are giving you an out; when a company says "It has come to our attention" that means we have proof; your move sir. They don't want to take you to court, but they can't just let something that garnered this much attention fall by the wayside.

    You're 100% wrong here.

Explain how they are going to take him to court.

    What jurisdiction?

How are they going to claim he legally owes them that money, when it stems from money he accumulated when they were operating illegally?

They would look MUCH worse suing a player than they would allowing some kid to get away with rolling them for $1100.

The out they are giving him is basically saying: Pay us or you won't be playing with us when we return to the US.

Idk, this is what they said:
Consequently, we ask that you return this money to us. Could you please
confirm within 14 days, if you are willing to do so, and we will then be
able to send you further information on how we can make this happen.
They haven't responded to me yet because it took them over 5 hours to forward my e-mail back to the appropriate person.

This is all totally untrue. PokerStars is a perfectly legal US company at the moment thanks to the DOJ settlement, they are allowed to run play money games and can pay their sponsored pros. There is no reason they cannot file charges in the US under international law.

I don't understand why you don't get "He Broke the Law". knowingly taking money from a bank, a business, or a person that you know you are not entitled to is a crime. The fact that he brazenly posted about makes it a slam dunk case.

Call any lawyer, explain the situation, and aske what their advice is. Do you think they are going to care about FPP's or a Zoom Tournament in the Bahamas, he broke the law and admitted to it. And now your telling him to make demands

And then Druff knowingly accepts some of the stolen money!! And then laughs about it. Its just so fucked up to me. Druff has stated many times that he'd like to become a poker room manager, then he applauds the dude for rolling the fucking poker room. zero point zero chance he ever even gets considered for a job in poker.

I've never questioned your justifications, or if what you did was overly ethical, I'm just trying to let you know that you did break the law, and the fact they contacted you should make you want to get this behind you really fast. I sort of told you this the other day and you just laughed it off, but I know someone who got into deep shit for accepting an auto insurance check he knew was wrong, and he was using the same line of thought you are
