Why would it be okay for city agencies to engage in BDS, which is an anti-Semitic movement?

This isn't suppression of speech or freedom of choice. This is forcing GOVERNMENT AGENCIES to stop discriminating.

By the way, BDS isn't just boycotting Israeli businesses. It typically boycotts all JEWISH businesses, unless those Jewish businesses disavow Israel. At one point in Boston, there was actually a Nazi-like map distributed, showing Stars of David to indicate all Jewish-owned businesses in the city. This was distributed by the local BDS group there.

Imagine if it were found that city agencies were boycotting all Muslim businesses unless those business owners disavowed Iran. How would that fly with the progressive left?

City agencies should not boycott any kind of business based upon who owns it, their politics, or their country of origin. They should contract with businesses which can best perform the job, are competent, and reliable. Since when is government-level discrimination okay?

Or is it only okay if it's against DA JOOOOOOOOOOOZ?

i just had to look up what BDS meant - so it's either boycott, divestment, and sanctions or bachelor of dental surgery. i'll presume its the former.

to answer you dd, governmental bodies discriminate all the time with hiring preferences, minority contract awards, etc. but that notwithstanding, as a general principle i agree the city shouldn't discriminate against folks with differing religions when considering whose product to buy. but isreael is not a religion, but a nationality. and imo, ofc it's alright to do so on that basis for all kinds of reasons. based on the caption, it also appears to handcuff the city from selling the bonds for legitimate reasons. what if israel's credit rating worsened, etc. and imo more importantly, wtf is a debt ridden city like NYC doing owning bonds of a foreign government, much less one which is in constant strife with its neighbors, which in my opinion makes them uninvestable on long term maturities. play devil's advocate here: don't you think that NYC picked those bonds to buy bc of the mayor's (or a prior one's) affinity for israel and in the process passed over some better paying bond issuers? i'm sure you get my point.

Druff's right, i can't imagine a single nickel of NYC's budget going towards a tiny country a billion miles away.
If there is any money going towards Israel there needs to be corruption investigations opened immediately.

If the target were foreign bond purchases, it would make sense for those to be banned across the board for the city.

But that's not what BDS is about. BDS is boycotting any Jewish business which either has ties to Israel, does business with Israel, or is perceived to be on Israel's side. If you look at who is part of the BDS movement, it's not good-hearted Americans who want to see our tax dollars spent responsibly, or regular Joes who just don't like the Israeli government but otherwise have no problem with Jews. It's made up entirely of Jew-hating Muslims and progressives. If you asked any of these people behind closed doors what they thought of Jews, 100% of them would say horrible things. You wouldn't get answers like, "Oh, I have no problem with Jews at all, I just don't like the Israeli government." You know that.

At least Nick Fuentes comes forward and says he hates the Jews.

These people try to pretend it's just "the government of Israel", but a look at how they all reacted to the 10/7 attacks (or any other violence against Jews) speaks volumes.

I support Eric Adams weeding this shit out of city government. Instead of hiding behind all the fake reasons why BDS activity at the city level is okay, he's just cutting through the bullshit and basically saying, "I know why you guys are doing this, and it stops now."

Don't get lost in the obfuscation.
    The bottom line.
If you can't boycott the genocide of women and children then you aren't free.

    As it stands, you can't.

Here's the sickest thing, they don't need our money. They have more money than they could possible spend.
There are many trillionaires among Israel's staunchest supporters. They keep that on the down low.

my investment brain was in control and focused on the bond part. it still puzzles me why a debt ridden city would be buying israeli bonds. anywho.

there are few places on the planet who would want to suffer a retaliatory nuclear strike less than iran.

they are basically in a giant basin. its literally the ideal spot to vaporize because the radiation gets reflected off the mountains etc back towards the detonation zones.

they know this. and netanyahu knows this.

but hes betting that you dont know this, because you and your children's educational budget went to paying for israel's military. and education. and health care.

Depends who is in charge of Iran, and how much their motivation comes from religion.

There are many Islamists who believe that their entire country being obliterated by nukes is worth it, if they can take down hundreds of millions of evil non-believers at the same time.

China and Russia do not want mutually assured destruction, hence why I am not worried about them nuking us.

But get nukes in the hands of Islamic fundamentalists, and it could be game over for the world.

LOL. The biggest story in the news is Somali's ripping off the county for billions and you couldn't care less. You dont give a single shit about anyone's children or tax dollars. You just hate America and want its enemies to destroy it. That is why you are always on the side of the people who are actively trying to destroy this country, either from without or within.

You and Tellafriend hate Trump because he actually closed the border and is fighting America's enemies. It pisses you guys of that Biden/Kamala didn't win and there aren't 10 million more illegals flooding the country sucking it dry.

I'd like to understand the method in which this could happen to an iPhone.

Typically iOS is pretty good at isolating Safari from the OS, to where installation of malware via web browsing or watching videos simply does not work.

In fact, they've gotten better at this, which is why jailbreaks are not possible on iOS past 16.

Maybe this claim is Android specific. There's been a lot of misinformation about Israel's supposed spying on US citizens via their smartphones.

I remember the whole ridiculous claim that Israel was "geofencing iPhone users in order to force propaganda through their phones", when in reality it was a simple ad serving scheme based upon GPS coordinates, which is extremely commonplace in the industry. (A good example is serving me MLB merchandise ads if my GPS coordinates show I'm near Dodger Stadium around game time.)

But this was a #bigstory for awhile, and it was totally mischaracterized.

I predicted Musk would be attacked by Israel, it just happened. They're using their puppets in the European commission.

Here's what's alarming, the two most vocal supporters of Musk are Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.

If Israel wants x censored then so do Rubio and Cruz. Trust me Cruz and Rubio are not about free speech.

How about fining Israel for lack of transparency.

I personally think Musk is much much closer to bankruptcy than people realize.

It is all bad faith garbage. Why even bother replying like it is a good faith post? If he replies at all, it is just going to be a troll and/or porn.

He is just a resentful third wordlists chimping out like third wordlists do. There is no good faith argument to be had.
