Neither is Yellowstone Park. Deciduous tree's don't grow above a certain altitude. And even the conifers (pines) don't grow above a certain altitude. The Beartooth Plateau (11,000 feet), which I've driven a few times, is well above the tree line, just dirt and rocks.This is why Montana is not a fall foliage destination.

Nicest drive I've done was this in the past year. But given how far off the map it is and virtually no cell service I don't recommend it unless you are adventurous and love camping.

It’s been awhile but I’ve done that drive around Lake Superior and it is as beautiful as advertised. Never in fall though… Will have to add to my list.Ya I was trying to figure out if usa is shit for foliage.

One of scariest moments of my life was having a tire blow around there and having to go to a sketchy ass truck repair place a la Wolf Creek.
