In early 2023, Katie was also accused of mistreating her employees.


In addition, she's had problems with her men. She had a very public and bitter divorce in 2018, where both Katie and her husband filed restraining orders against one another. In his divorce filing, Katie's husband claimed that she frequently berated him as a "fucking idiot" and "fucking incompetent", and that she once dumped boiling potatoes over his head during an argument. In 2024, she got a restraining order against her most recent boyfriend, claiming he was threatening her. He claimed in response that she was doing this to get ahead of him exposing things about her which would hurt her image politically.


It has long been discussed in political circles that Porter is a mean and arrogant person. It looks like those chickens are finally coming home to roost.

Last year, Porter was one of two very viable candidates to win Dianne Feinstein's vacated CA Senate seat, but shifty Adam Schiff was his shifty self and pulled a clever but sleazy electoral move to knock her out of the primary.

The CA primary is open, and the top two candidates move on to the general election, regardless of party. Dodgers legend Steve Garvey was running as a Republican, but had no shot to win this very blue state. However, Schiff took out loads of fake "attack" ads on Garvey, which pretended to attack him, but in reality was lauding Garvey's conservative record. One of the taglines was: "Steve Garvey -- too conservative for California." Indeed, this motivated Republicans to take notice and vote for him, allowing Garvey to easily crush Porter, and knock her out.

The final primary tally was: Adam Schiff (D): 31.6%, Steve Garvey (R): 31.5%, Katie Porter (D): 15.3%. Schiff then easily beat Garvey by 18 points, whereas a race against Porter head-to-head may have been competitive. Porter was furious, as she felt she might have beaten Garvey in the primary had it not been for Schiff's ads bringing him to voters' attention. It ended up likely not mattering, as she finished behind by 16 points, but Schiff was definitely dishonest in the way he went about things. Nobody felt sorry for Porter because she's a bitch and even people in her own party want her to go away.


This whole thing could shake up the race, as Porter is in the early lead in the polling on the Democratic side, up 18% to 7.7% over Xavier Becerra.

A Sacramento-based Democratic strategist called this week "a disaster" for Porter.

I didn't live here then, but prior to redistricting she briefly represented where I currently live. The goal of redistricting in 2022 was to create more Democrat seats, but it largely failed, which is why they are trying to redraw the maps more aggressively with Prop 50.

Anyways, I am sure Porter is a horrible person. But that being said, criticism of her is all over my X feed to a degree it doesn't feel natural at all. I am really curious who is going after her so aggressively, and why.

It isnt just California where Dems are in trouble. Out of VA the Democrat nominee for AG is likely going to be pulling out due to his disgusting and vile comments about the former GOP House Speaker and wishes of him being murdered along with the guys kids. It would hand re election to the current GOP AG who ironically is also gay and damages the whole GOP are anti-homosexual argument. The concern above all is that if the Dem nominee doesn't WD he could severely damage the Dems chances to knock off the current LT Gov who is running for a promotion and just happens to be Black and female (not to mention a military veteran). The polls have significantly narrowed in the Gov race either way VA is about to have its first female Governor in its history going back essentially 500yrs to the original founding as a colony of the Brits

It's coming from multiple directions.

The right is hitting her hard because she's both a known Democratic figure and the frontrunner for California governor, so they're getting a head start on bashing her.

Her Democratic opponents in the election are jumping on this for obvious reasons.

Other Democrats have had bad experiences with her, and want to see her fail. She's basically an abrasive person who has been mostly successful in politics despite her bad behavior, and many have been waiting for a moment like this to pounce. It's no accident that a lightly watched 2021 webcast suddenly surfaced, two days after the CBS News controversy. Someone on her own side had been sitting on that for awhile, and they found the right moment to release it.
