The graphic in the reply is a perfect example of why this should never be allowed. It might seem extreme, but just take a look at the things already happening and that have happened without it in place.
Call me stupid, but I don't think the Digital ID thing is a bad idea, provided it is simply for identification, and is not allowed by law to contain any other information about you.
This would actually be a good way to clamp down upon employers hiring illegals, by forcing them to match each employee to their digital ID. Otherwise employers can get around this by claiming they were provided fake identification.
Note that in the US, employers are supposed to submit social security for all employees, and thus the government DOES know where you work. This isn't much of a departure from that, except it's digitizing it.
I definitely am fully against any form of social rating or other potential negative or intrusive information being attached to the digital ID. For example, it should NOT list political party. It should just be for identification purposes. That shouldn't be too hard to restrict by law.

Fortunate to have 2 houses renting out apt in Florida. Will be renting out house in Ny after do a bathroom and kitchen remodel and stipulate we can have the basement mostly for my son as he wants to do the park ranger thing in summer. We are currently renting an apartment in Florida place. While here in ny currently we where informed by the mgmt that they can go in and out of our apartment as needed. We don't have to be there.
