Yeah this doesn't get enough discussion, but the "everyone's beautiful" nonsense which started about a decade ago is so tilting and divorced from reality.
It's important for everyone to understand their strengths and weaknesses, and in fact it's unhealthy for a non-beautiful person to believe they're actually beautiful. For example, take someone 350 pounds (male or female), and imagine if they're convinced they're beautiful. They might turn down potential romances with good people, believing that they're "beautiful" and therefore above the type of person typically interested in them.
It's also just a denial of reality. It's a fact that some people are very good looking, others are average, and others are ugly. This is of course subjective, but once you get to the "beautiful" category, you really should only reserve that for those in the top percentiles of conventional attractiveness.
I understand not wanting to rub someone's face in their looks shortcomings. There's no point to make someone feel like they're physically ugly, even if they are. That can be tough on the self esteem, and cause lots of subsequent psychological/confidence issues. At the same time, it's a mistake to make people believe that a weakness is actually a strength, as this leads to arrogance and delusion.
I'm glad that we are starting to return to objective reality. That's one of the nice side effects of Trump winning in 2024.
