its really hard to stress enough that america has been completely indoctrinated into being an israeli vassal state, while the rest of the world sees israel as religious weirdo right wing death cultists.

i think its been such a complicated relationship to decouple with because every single candidate was in a race to be the most pro-israel, and coming in 2nd best was basically a massive liability at the polls somehow. i never understood that but it was a thing. i remember when trump tried to blow up bidens spot in a debate by saying he was ignoring israel and biden roared out I SPOKE WITH BIBI YESTERDAY and somehow nothing after that felt like it mattered, that was trump's big layup and biden stuffed it.


i think the worm is turning tho. newer generations arent falling for the 'if you hate israel you hate the jews' trope and an awful lot of them are jewish. and yeah to your point the rest of the world is looking at us like we're a zombie government which is an especially bad look considering our brand, so maybe theres a reversal in popular polarity coming...

i was good friends with a politician on the state level here and especially when he/she first ran and every cycle afterwards many of the usual special interest groups pepper the candidates with questions related to their pet issues. one of the big ones was obviously related to his/her views on israel/jews.

i am sure that doesn't come as a surprise, but i share it to show you how insidious and far reaching they have their claws into these folks -- many of whom move up the ranks, first in leadership, then into larger positions. they keep the receipts so to say.
