Pennsylvania merges player pool with other states

Josh Shapiro signed a bill allowing Pennsylvania online poker rooms to merge player pools with other states.

The signing occurred last week, and the new law is effective 4/28/25 (meaning it's already in effect).

WSOP.com and BetMGM have already merged. Pokerstars US has not done so yet.

Online poker already existed in Delaware, New Jersey, Nevada, Michigan, and West Virginia, and all of these states can now merge with Pennsylvania.

WSOP.com has merged PA with NJ, NV, and MI (36 million people total).

BetMGM has merged PA with NJ and MI (32.7 million people total).

This still leaves almost 90% of the US population unable to play on these sites.

And they are all still complete ghost towns compared to Bovada, WPTgold, and ACR ...

Yeah they said it was merging on that day, and I was over in PA that day, but I couldn’t tell a difference. Then it said only a few sites had did the tech work, and it wasn’t Pokerstars. So I downloaded BetMGM which supposedly had, and it was also dead. So I hit the chat function and asked and they said most of the sites won’t be fully integrated until 4th quarter of this year, which I was surprised at, but also indicative of poker not being some priority. Obviously back in the day it would have been a big deal. Like it’s the biggest player pool in PA, but it still will suck without another 100 million population states being added.

I’ll check in this weekend. I was most curious if they could run more than a single decent buy in tournament with any regularity. The cash games looked the same. Handful of pros siting alone 10/25NL and higher and then nothing until .25/.50 and that was the same guys at every table.

No limit action at all. One PLO table.
