The Belmont Police Department hired a foreign national despite a previous domestic violence arrest. It did not turn out well.

Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom (Calif.) ratified legislation in September 2022 scrapping the requirement that police, highway patrol, and corrections officers in California have to be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The law went into effect on Jan. 1, 2023.

Felipe Gomes, one of the foreign nationals who took full advantage of Newsom's law, was arrested last week on suspicion of rape, reported the Palo Alto Daily Post.

Redwood City Police arrested Gomes at the Belmont Police Department headquarters on April 22, according to RCPD Sgt. Victor Figueroa. Gomes was reportedly charged under penal code 261 (a) (1), which concerns knowingly having sexual intercourse with an individual incapable of giving consent because of a mental disorder or developmental or physical disability.

The Brazilian national was booked into the San Mateo County Office Main Jail then later released on a $100,000 bail bond.

Belmont Police Lt. Pete Lotti indicated that Gomes was terminated the following day.

The bigger problem here is that the guy had a domestic violence arrest which, despite not being charged, had him admitting he struck the woman. It just was unclear who struck who first, as he had injuries as well.

But this should have been disqualifying, and two other police departments passed on him for exactly this reason.

That’s the issue that needs to be addressed here.

Separately, I agree non-citizens should not be police officers. There are various reasons why hiring such people is a bad idea, including possible national security concerns.

Most of my posting platform is to point out the hypocrisy of things. The whole style and purpose is to push back to the left/dems in the same blunt and bully format we had to endure for the last 4+ years. Between the Biden complex, the media and other politicians forcing ideas, opinions and lifestyle on us, we had to endure it and now you are angry and know how it feels.

Ant--black- NOPE. I am anti-black privilege and some of the black community still paying the victim card on everything and feel like they deserve special privilege. When you look at the BLM thread, they are committing all kinds of crime, violence and attacking innocent people, all because they feel they are the victims. Again, calling them on their hypocrisy. Why is it OK for black people to say- "Kill and exterminate white people" and its OK and people look the other way? Why do they feel they deserve reparations today from taxpayers? Why is it ok for a black teenager to kill a white teenager in Texas and the black teenager gets a Go Fund Me account and out on reduced bail?? Why is the system so slanted and not fair? When should "black privilege" end?
