We are old. A random all age sampling on the street of 100 people, probably more know who Mr Beast is than Mick Jagger unless you’re in a retirement community. And his net worth in a decade is more than Mick’s in 60+ and he is 26 years old. YouTube is weird man. If you find that niche of dumb shit to make kids laugh it prints money. I would have never guessed he has fans who would pay $1000 pop for some Vegas experience because most of his fans aren’t old enough to go to Vegas, but family shit I guess.

I said who tf is Mr Beast when kids wanted me to grab Mr Beast candy bars a few years ago. I am constantly baffled by how rich and popular people I have never heard of are.

Ive never watched any of his shit and i never indend to,, but the little ive gathered is that he supposedly is/was this benevolent dude who gives money and other free things away to people, trying to portray himself as some saint or whatever.

A while back I thought like many others,, that he was one of the few youtubers who was legit and doing genuine good things.

Lately, the consensus ive gotten is that it is supposedly not necessarily the case. Again, on my very limited knowledge, he has been accused by people and even his previous employees of putting on a facade and being nothing more than a grifter; example- not paying out big prizes as promised to people on his videos. Even though his channel etc is upposedly raking in hundreds of millions per year.

Anyway. Im sure before long Trump will ask him if he wants to fill a position for him, because he obviously fits right in with Trump etc

His grift started when he did stupid videos like “last person to leave this island owns it”

He bought an island and the only people on it was his friends and people he knew, I noticed it years ago so stopped watching him.

Excuse: but it’s all for entertainment only

So I guess there's two issues to discuss here.

First, we are all old and don't understand the appeal of Mr. Beast, and some here don't even know who he is.

I will admit that when I heard Mr. Beast would be on Hustler Casino Live awhile back, I had to ask Benjamin who he was. Later, Ben insisted I buy him some Mr. Beast candy bar he saw in the store because he heard it was "really good". This was during a family road trip. I bought Ben 4 of them, and he said he really enjoyed the first 3. The fourth one melted in the car and he was very disappointed.

But at least the candy bars were good, albeit overpriced products.

Mr. Beast started getting too greedy, and stamped his name on anything which paid him enough money. He figured that he is only one guy and can't do everything, so why not license out his name to experienced product and service providers in other industries, who can do all the work, take the financial risk, and give him a cut of the profits?

The problem is shit like this. There have been other scandals where things supposedly owned or affiliated with Mr. Beast turn out to just be a licensing deal, and his fans end up devastated by it.

To answer which idiots pay $1000 for this Resorts World activity, and how kids can afford it, the answer of course is PARENTS. Many parents -- even ones who are middle class -- are happy to spend money to give their kids a memorable experience. Thus, if the kid hears about a Mr. Beast event which sounds fun and exciting, the parents are willing to part with $1000 in order to make a special family trip out of it. It's a more expensive version of why I saw "A Minecraft Movie" last Friday.

I'll go on to discuss the actual Resorts World event fail in the next post...

Mr. Beast indeed licensed out this experience to Resort World, who then put it in the hands of an incompetent moron.

And guess who that moron was? According to VitalVegas, it was a relative of disgraced former Resorts World president Scott Sibella!

    Wow.

Mr. Beast himself tried to do a bit of damage control, responding to a Vegas-based guy who had been complaining about the event being a complete disaster:

    https://twitter.com/MrBeast/status/1912299963838509240
    https://twitter.com/MrBeast/status/1912301535196758326

Being social media savvy, note that this public posting was a REPLY to a guy with very few followers, and will be seen by a very small fraction of people compared to an original Mr. Beast post.

How small? Despite links to the tweet on sites such as Yahoo, and despite Mr. Beast having 32 million followers, the first tweet has only 32,000 views, and the second only has 18,000!

To compare, my semi-recent tweet about a guy getting stiffed out of $87k on Bovada got 90,000 views in about the same time period! I never thought I'd be able to say that I had a 2025 tweet which outperformed a 2025 Mr. Beast tweet, but here we are. But that's not any testament to my reach. I still only have 6300 followers, while Mr. Beast has 32 million.

The Twitter display algorithm VERY MUCH favors original posts and retweets, and mostly suppresses replies from uninvolved people's feeds.

Anyway, I assume Mr. Beast is going to get the people's info who went to this event, and will hold some kind of nice makeup event at his expense, where people will get to interact with him personally and directly. That's the good thing here. It's an easy fix, as the allure here was spending a little time with Mr. Beast in person, and now these kids are likely getting a much better version of it sometime soon.

But why did this happen in the first place, and what could Resorts World have done better once they realized the fail? I'll get to that in my next post.

Before I get any further, I want to point out that, as with many things over the past 20+ years, there's a poker connection here.

That's because Pokernews ran an advertorial for this event on April 2, and it's still up!

    https://www.pokernews.com/casino/new...egas-48295.htm

(Note that the bolding below is my doing, and is not in bold type on Pokernews' page.)

MrBeast, real name James Donaldson, is well known for his high-concept YouTube productions, picking up 383 million YouTube subscribers1 and a reported net worth of $500 million2 along the way.

What is the MrBeast Experience at Resorts World, Las Vegas?

The MrBeast Experience is set to invite guests to take part in 'an immersive experience' with a series of 'on-site activations,' according to Resorts World.

Taking place from April 13-15, guests will be able to enjoy a host of exclusive MrBeast rewards, including a three-night stay at the resort, a 'mystery bag' stocked with MrBeast merchandise, and, for one lucky guest, a $10,000 voucher. This voucher can be redeemed for cash at Resorts World.

"We’re thrilled to partner with MrBeast to bring a new immersive experience to the property. It’s special and unexpected and delivers on our commitment to create unforgettable experiences. We look forward to welcoming his fans to create lasting memories at our property", said Ronn Nicolli, chief marketing officer of Resorts World Las Vegas.

We don't know what these immersive experiences or challenges will entail, but one thing is for certain: MrBeast himself won't be in attendance. The Resorts World experience is themed around the MrBeast brand rather than an opportunity to meet the man behind it.

The $10,000 mystery prize does add a level of jeopardy akin to the MrBeast YouTube output, but only one lucky guest can scoop the cash.

If you feel like getting in on the action with the MrBeast Resorts World experience, then you haven't got long: the fun starts on April 13.

In Pokernews' defense, they had no idea this would be a disaster, and were just accepting advertorial money, which is a common practice in web journalism nowadays.

Also, note that they did point out the Mr. Beast wouldn't be attending -- something which was otherwise unclear to many eventgoers. I will say the Pokernews article was more honest and straightforward than Resorts World's own webpage about it (which is now down)!

Note that the Resorts World promotional page implies that Mr. Beast will be there, without directly stating it!

The experience was mind-bogglingly bad, and unlike other event fails such as Fyre Fest, this wasn't a matter of overpromising something grandiose.

The promised activities were not difficult for the Resorts World team to pull off, but for whatever reason, they were just too lazy to put it together.

For example, several restaurants at Resorts World were supposed to have some Mr. Beast themed food during those dates (April 13-15), yet nobody at the restaurants had heard anything about this, and their menus were normal.

There were supposed to be various activities hosted at Resorts World with a Mr. Beast theme, attended by those who bought the package. Instead, none of this happened.

According to one user on Reddit who attended:

We went to it and paid $999 for three nights at resorts world. We got a box of feastables on day one and at 2:30pm on day two we got the merch bag with three random sized tshirts, shorts, and a hat. That was the entire experience.

So there were no activities, no special food (aside from a box of Mr. Beast feastables candy bars), and nothing in the mystery bag except for some really cheap clothing which has long been available on the Mr. Beast webstore for $9 each ($27 total).

Inexcusable. How did these Resorts World employees think people would be okay with this?

Arguably the worst part was the immediate response from the CEO. An angry mob of people gathered in the hotel and confronted him:

    https://twitter.com/8NewsNow/status/1912559221029118108

What did CEO Alex Dixon do? Did he refund everyone's money and give them something extra for all their time, trouble, and (for some) travel expense?

    No.

The asshole just waived an "early checkout fee" for those who wanted to leave before their final night, and granted them a $50 food credit.

Even worse is the fact that Resorts World HIGHLY marked up the rooms for this "experience" -- charging eventgoers $999 for the three nights. Since the three nights were Sunday through Tuesday, the same rooms could have been acquired for the low $100s each on the open market, even after resort fees!

So those people essentially paid $650 extra in order to get a box of candy bars and $27 worth of merchandise. And they sat around for 2 full days being told to wait in their room for an exciting mystery box, which turned out to be the cheap clothing. Imagine sitting around like a chump for 2 days in a hotel room, and that's what arrives. I'd be beyond livid.

How could CEO Alex Dixon be so stupid as to give such lousy compensation, after it was clear how badly they dropped the ball? They clearly didn't deliver what was promised.

Finally, after the media outrage, Resorts World was shamed into giving a refund to everyone. A few hours ago, Resorts World quietly announced they would give full refunds to all attendees, though this has not hit most of the media as of now.

Mr. Beast instructed his team to call all of the guests at the event, offering to fly them for free to North Carolina for a makeup event, where he will attend.
