Its such a genius move too. By doing so if they refuse to return/quit then they get no severance or anything and the Unions that represent the workers cant do jack or shit about it while reducing the massive size of govt. Some of these idiots literally moved away and are cooked they cant return because they live hours away from DC now.
Almost all work from home arrangements come with the stipulation that if your boss calls you have :59 minutes to get to your physical place of employment if you are at your home workstation. I know it seems unlikely but many of the departments work with IT to check to make sure people are in compliance.Its such a genius move too. Im sure there will be many people who work in florida and live in Oregon. With a payroll as page as they have its bound to happen. Of course that is not to say the guy in Oregon isn't the best and most productive employee in the department. Some will be dead weight and these are the “saves” we are all looking for.
I think what most people fail to realize is most of the government work from home arrangements are to benefit the cost of government. There are Defense facilities and VA hospitals that don't have the office space to support the Legal, HR, Finance and even some core elements of running the facility.
Mark my words. There is a day coming in the next 3-5 weeks where “everyone” is going to have to show up at the main building to sign in and find out where to report to their new on site workstation….the local TV cameras will get called in….. and there will be a bunch of mid level beaurucrats standing around telling everyone to “go home and get back to work”.
There are literally thousands of people like this and its going to be a shit show for very little return on investment.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if guys like Limitles are getting paid indirectly somehow to post here by the USAID. AIDs being appropriate.
