    American Express will pay approximately $230 million to resolve a Department of Justice criminal wire fraud investigation and settle civil allegations of deceptive marketing.
    The banking giant signed a non-prosecution agreement with New York federal prosecutors.
    Amex also resolved allegations by the Department of Justice’s Civil Division that it deceptively marketed credit cards to small businesses, among other claims.


    so, given the guvment's logic, when can anyone with unpaid balances on their am ex card except "forgiveness" of their loan and have the debt transferred to the taxpayers? they did it with student loans and housing using this same reasoning.
