She eventually told me she was joking about the whole thing, and was actually from Vegas. She was a cute blond girl in her mid-20s, and we had loosely discussed meeting up, but it just never ended up happening. One day, a dude who had been friends with her for a long time confided in me that she was afraid to meet me because of various health issues. He said that the health issues made her, among other things, extremely fatigued and it was hard for her to go out normally. I asked her about it, and she told me about it in more detail. She said she really liked me but was just so afraid of meeting and having me see her like this. I told her that I would never judge her for such a thing, and I'd be happy to meet up with her when she was ready. She seemed very relieved, and said we could meet up very soon.

Then... nothing. Not too long after that, I was completely ghosted. I figured she was too embarrassed once I knew the truth about her conditions, and just wanted away from me, and back into the online fantasy world of being like everyone else.

About a year later I looked at her Myspace out of curiosity, and it hadn't been updated since around the time she stopped talking to me. I did a little research and saw that she died within weeks of our last conversation. Sad.

Still haven't made it out to Goldfield.
There is a McDonald’s in Tonopah and one in Yerington but no, not one in Goldfield.

Like others over the years, she was fucking with you. In spite of your claims, at times you come across as a SIMP before it was a well known condition.

How did I come across like a simp? I never kissed her ass or begged to meet her. This was a chick who talked to me, lived in Vegas like I did, but was flaky regarding meeting. Eventually I gave up, only to hear from her close friend that it was due to a health condition she was ashamed of. So I told her not to worry about it, and that I wouldn't judge her or hold it against her. That made her feel better, but then she vanished -- because she died very shortly after our conversation.

    Where did simping come in?

The McDonald's thing was a public-facing joke which she revealed during our first real conversation.

Anyway, I saw the Riverside Casino in the pic.

Stayed there for 1 night earlier this year. Ran a bit of video poker there, now I get fail offers to stay there free weeknights (with a lol $18 resort fee) an a few buffets.

    Whatev.

Maybe I'll take 'em up on it one of these days for a change in scenery, perhaps in the spring.
You didn't run enough coin then.

Just the second-tier card players card there (silver) avoids the resort fee, a-la Caesars Diamond.

It's cheap to do. I'm sure you found the NSUD at the river bar.

If you don't mind the extra variance there's even better 25/12 DBDW (99.96%) at dollars at the upstairs bar by the sports book/bowling alley.

    Some notes on Goldfield-

    - I have driven through Goldfield, Nevada (Esmeralda County) atleast once a year from probably the last 15 years.

    - Around 2016, I drove through town and saw the live radio station there and an actual real DJ/radio host there on the mic. Since then, they have removed the live person and put an actual dummy in the DJ/host chair. KGFN (K Gold Field Nevada). More explained here- https://nvtami.com/2023/02/15/radio-goldfield/

    - There is alteast one big junk yard in GF, lots of old and classic cars. I can only assume the owner spends his days parting them out and selling the parts online.

    - There are a few old ambulances, police cars and fire trucks scattered around GF. I guess some people there like to collect them. If you need help and call 911 in GF, I assume the best youll get is an Esmeralda Sheriff car.

-I have never seen an actual fire department in GF or the county. Its always looked like the residents have to supply their own fire protection and thats why some of them own their own (old) fire trucks. There is one lime yellow truck for sale there I would like to buy, its a former Truckee Meadows (Washoe County) engine. Its for sale right now.

Pic of it I took earlier this year-

    - There are no gas stations in Goldfield, but were/are two dead pumps on the main road that I did get pics of years ago, they now say partycat.com or something like that. For a few years, talk of truck stop gas station was coming and NOW it is under construction. on the south side of town. After all of these years, they really needed some sort of retail and gas service.

    The Facebook page- https://www.facebook.com/p/Goldfield...0063733170922/

Goldfield is nice to drive through, but it really is an old dead ghost town. The new truck stop will bring in tax dollars and some life to the county. No gambling there that I have seen. The newest structure in GF is the state built Visitor Center that has an EV charging station. So far, looks like GF is coming back to life and growing up now.

Side note- Like Druff, I love driving the whole Mojave Desert and exploring the Nevada and Arizona vast areas. I love "desert running", survival stuff, camping there and staying in the hotels. Las Vegas is pretty much the central hub for me. I also love California, but its now a waste to stay and live there with the increased taxes and Gavin Newsom running the state into the ground.

When traveling on 95, be sure to fill up at my dad’s Fastrip gas station in the Amargosa Valley. Most of you will be stopping there anyway, since the Alien Cathouse is right behind it.

I've been thru Goldfield a few times. If someone told me they worked at a McDonalds there I would have laughed. It's in the middle of nowhere with a population of maybe 300.

But it was a boomtown over 100 years ago. Jack Dempsey fought there before he was champion. There was the Battling Nelson-Joe Gans fight. Tex Rickard lived there a few years. Wyatt Earp was there to visit brother, Virgil, who ended up dying there.

True story- I have stopped there many times because the gas is cheaper, drinks are cold and I usually grab beef jerky there. A few times I have parked out in the south part of the lot and napped in my vehicle. I have not gone into the brothel yet, but will do it next time just to check it off of my list of things to see.

If your father owns the gas station, was he previous partners with Denis Hoff or bought out his interest in the property after death?

Before entering into the brothel business, Hof owned gas stations, first in Arizona and later in Nevada. ... Amargosa Valley, Nevada, renamed the Alien Cathouse.

He just owns the pumps at this location. At most of his stores, he owns the building as well. So we did do some negotiating with Dennis.

I’ve been in the whore house just to check it out. A Hispanic woman, who was about a 7, gave me the tour. When I asked her what she wanted for an hour, she quoted me $1650! When I told her I could get a quality escort in Vegas for $300 (which I think is the going rate), she said I’d catch VD. I responded that bashing other sex workers was not a good look for her!

I stop here every trip through. They have some cute alien novelties and a vodka in a small alien head that I always pick up for gifts. Long drive into nothingness after this place.

You do go by a few other old closed brothels on the way north including the one with the crashed airplane outside.

True story- Back in 2003, I added some stickers on that airplane with all of the others. In 2018, I drive through there and the stickers are still on the plain, but faded. I have some pics, I’ll see if I can find them.

Just curious, it is much more built up - you get about 90k people in that area compared to like 8800 in Laughlin.

    Enjoy
The Arizona side just works for me now the at I will be doing business there. Several factors- cheaper cost of living, no 1 hour time difference and AZ is a constitutional carry state for firearms on top of already having myAZ CCW. i also want to put my money and retirement funds into the local AZ economy vs Clark County across the River that is doing just fine.

Add- I also want to get a Kawasaki KRX and they can be street legal in AZ. The Druff and I can go desert running.

    solid reasons!! cheers

A Kawasaki KRX, specifically the Teryx KRX 1000, is designed with a robust frame and Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) to prevent it from easily flipping over, making it relatively resistant to rollovers when ridden responsibly on appropriate terrain; however, like any off-road vehicle, it can still flip if put in extreme situations or handled poorly.
I would not buy a Polaris RZR, but this 2012 video is some of the best desert running I've seen. This is why I am moving to Arizona and then maybe Nevada once fully retired...

i dont know much about this sport but it seems cool. I just learned about the offroad highway system and that seems pretty cool, 100s of miles of "roads" going all sorts of places you could never think about driving too, and also to like cities, city to city lol, seems fun.

So much to learn about the SxS, but if you ever go shopping, I really like the Kawasaki over the RZR, Can AM and Yamaha. Seems like Kawi came late, but did their homework and delivered a high quality product. I am def getting a Kawasaki KRX.

I think- When you want to fully retire, Henderson or the outskirts of of the LV city limits are a win. I will also look at Pahrump for retirement as I really like snow.

I just ran it when I was sitting around bored for a bit.

Probably not worth it to earn Silver for that, given that I will not be going to Laughlin often, and the resort fee isn't high anyway.

I’m staying at the Tropicana tonight in Laughlin. The place is nice, your typical Tier 2 level Vegas style room, but would give it a 2+. I do like that the parking garage is close to the room tower. I would stay here again.

Last time I was here was in the 90s, it was the Ramada Express then, no relation to the Ramada corporate.

I still have a Mexican restaurant review to do on the Arizona side, will get to it soon.

Stayed in Ramada Express in early 2000s. Surprisingly decent. They had that stupid train running outside, which went nowhere.

One notable thing that happened there was that I played blackjack alone, and a pretty girl in her mid-20s sat down with me and started talking. She wasn't even playing -- just talking to me, and I wasn't getting the hooker vibe at all.

She talked to me for about 25 minutes and I couldn't figure out what her deal was. She wasn't playing, she wasn't with anyone, and she sat there talking to me for 25 minutes at the table. Was she interested in me? Was I wrong about her not being a hooker? Was she perhaps a gold digger? She seemed very nice and down to earth, but as I said, was very pretty, and not the type you'd expect to approach random dudes playing blackjack.

    Finally, I got my answer.

"You remind me so much of my brother," she said. "Before he got addicted to drugs. He's not the same person anymore. Not since years ago. But you remind me so much of what he used to be, it was like I was talking to the old him again. I'm really glad I sat down here and takled to you. I've gotta go meet up with my mom right now for dinner. Good luck!"
