Yes!! Thank you for this master thread. I’ve also been meaning to find that Don Laughlin segment and finally hear the whole thing. I also need to hear the Mojave phone booth as well.

What about the numerous segments on hookers propositioning you? Also, pornstar living in tunnels under Vegas.

    Just saw this on Facebook...

Want to know the COOLEST thing to do near Las Vegas that nobody talks about? Exploring the St. Thomas Ghost Town site, which was submerged under up to 70 feet of water following the construction of the Hoover Dam. Recent dry conditions have made the town accessible once again. It takes 1.5 hours to get there by car, but exploring this eerie scene in the middle of the desert is enormously fun.

Maybe Druff can cover the MASP soon. I just rolled by the MASP last week and this aircraft (world's largest airplane) was still parked outside. They actually built the hanger around the plane.

This is Two Guns, Arizona, a historic ghost town along Route 66 with a dark and mysterious past. The top image shows Two Guns in its prime during the early-to-mid 20th century when it served as a bustling roadside attraction, complete with a Texaco gas station, trading post, and a zoo run by the infamous "Chief" Henry Miller. The bottom image reveals the present-day ruins of the site, now abandoned and left to the elements.

Two Guns is infamous for its connection to the Apache Death Cave, where, according to legend, Navajo warriors trapped and killed a group of Apaches in 1878. The land has since been rumored to be cursed, as multiple business ventures at the site have mysteriously failed. Today, Two Guns stands as an eerie relic of Arizona’s past, attracting urban explorers and ghost hunters intrigued by its haunted history.

Eastern Kern County is actually petty high tech. Edwards AFB, a Hyundai test track, solar panels and wind turbines everywhere, in Mojave they do plane maintenance. And then there’s Ridgecrest, which has China Lake Naval Weapons Station. It’s a town equally divided between rocket scientists and methheads.

Good 2 year old video clip about Mojave, CA in Kern County, CA...

Mojave is a community in Kern County. The town is located 50 miles (80 km) east of Bakersfield, and 100 miles (161 km) north of Los Angeles and lies at an elevation of 2,762 feet (842 m). The population is 3,780 and is declining.

The town of Mojave began in 1876 as a construction camp on the Southern Pacific Railroad. Mojave has a rich aerospace history. Besides of a general-use public airport, Mojave has three main areas of activity: flight testing, space industry development, and aircraft maintenance and storage. The closest airfield to the city, formerly known as the Mojave Airport, is now part of the Mojave Air and Space Port.

Mojave has a desert climate. It has hot summers and cool winters. The median household income is $24,761. 36.2% of the population live below the poverty line. The median age in the city is about 30 years old.

I remember Vegas looking this way. In fact, 1976 is the years my memories start, though they're very faint by this point. When I see old pictures of videos from the time period, the memories somewhat come back.

My parents were recreational low stakes blackjack players who went to Vegas about 1-2 times per year. They were never serious gamblers, and neither of them has gambled at all in decades, even though they still visit Vegas about once per year.

Something about Slots-a-Fun always seemed cool to me as a kid. Maybe it was the name. I looked forward to the day I'd be 21 and could go gamble there. I didn't make it there until I was about 30, as by then it lost it appeal, but it was an awful experience where the dealers and pit bosses were extremely rude. I think they see all customers as extensions of Circus Circus trash. Maybe it was better in the '70s.

Regarding Jimmie "JJ" Walker, it's interesting that he was doing performances at Riviera despite starring in a hit sitcom at the time. I know actors made less money back then, but I think he really was doing it for the love of being a comedian.

Walker is actually a political conservative these days, which might surprise you. It might also surprise you to know that he's presently 77 years old (soon to be 78), despite being a "teenager" on Good Times in the mid-late 70s. In reality, he was almost 32 when the series ended. He's 1 year younger than Trump.

Esther Rolle and John Amos quit the show because they felt that Walker's crazy antics were dominating the show, and it was lacking the seriousness they were promised when it started. Amos and Rolle had been led to believe that Good Times would introduce the world to serious issues plaguing blacks in the American ghettos of the mid-1970s, but that theme became secondary to JJ shouting "Dy-no-MITE!"

Rolle came back late in the series because she was broke and needed the money.

The Boz: The “James is dead” letter was an incredible ending to a character. All their dreams gone.

Over that last few years, I knew the city of California City was going to rebound some day, maybe its coming soon.
