There are plenty of instances of cheating to discuss about this crooked cardroom. People are definitely laundering money while getting the benefit of gambling and being able to make more money at the same time. I know for a fact that there are people up in that cardroom gambling with dirty money, so apparently this casino is accountable to no regulating outside agency.
You sit and watch these live streams and see these same young and often times minority faces sitting at the table day after day with endless trunks of money and the attention shifts from the game and onto where these people obtained a money printing machine so as to get one myself. Some of these players have the backgrounds and means, but a lot of these players are just showing up, ofter times in pairs and groups, and plunking down 6 and 7 figure sums of money and they won't even have a Linkdin page or veriable source of income.
Card mechanics, cheats, scammers, money launderers, colluders and grifters.... Poker has become such a scummy industry.
CA Gaming Commission doesn't give a shit about anything beyond collecting licensure money and the allowed games being spread.
If the FBI investigated the players at HCL, they probably would find a lot of dirty money. To be fair, that's true about a lot of high stakes gambling environments. In fact, I used to play high stakes games in the 2000s at Commerce where I'm sure the money came from drugs or other illegal sources. Whatever. Not my problem.
I keep reading about cheating allegations regarding HCL, but until I see actual proof, it's just hearsay.
