Such a smart kid, and he didn't realize the main reason for the "low" US life expectancy is lifestyle, not poor healthcare?

For example, Asian Amerians have a life expectancy of over 85, which is higher than any country in the world. So clearly if our healthcare system was producing bad outcomes, we wouldn't have a subgroup averaging 85 fucking years old.

This shows how conspiratards overthink everything to the point of missing the obvious.

I wonder how huge brows affect one's life expectancy.

    It's more than just "lifestyle".

    In America, people eat shit.
    Most people don't exercise enough.
Their lives are way too stressful.
    Genetics also is a factor.

Donald Trump eats McDonalds everyday and has somehow made it to 78 years old. Unbelievable.

Life expectancy in America is 75 years for men and 80 years for women.

After reading thru his twitter and goodreads, I come to the conclusion hes a moron, andrew huberman watcher-type, mistakes Correlation for causation, vice-versa.

His theory's of philosophy and a few of the papers he wrote in Highschool present a very immature mind, curious and smart, but needing another 15 years real world experience - after learning his background I think he got confused by being a rich top 1% child with regular human issues, which gave him this populist attraction and identity as a 'regular average loser (by-no-fault-of-there-own) American, totally average sufferer'. He was not average at all and his identifying with the common man poisoned his though process, imho.

His thoerys and writings weren't even interesting, extremely reductionist, and no substance - nothing to learn from reading them - you will be dumber.

I think he stewed on his pain with his back for years, and snapped, this has been a long planned event, and I am just curious why he would walk around with the evidence almost a week later a few hundred miles from ny in a fucking public mcdnalds, he had massive family in maryland, I imagine he could have found a place to hide and family can look the other way, at least for a while. Why he felt he needed to stay in the area is strange, the only idea that makes any sense is he had another target either a specific person or he was still trying to choose another person..

Odd way to go about things, even after you decide to kill and run. Odd run.

Actually our healthcare is great, if we were all fat and lazy elsewhere we would die waiting for socialized care

I suspect pain and zoomer self medication scrambled his noggin.

Frustration over the life he felt he was entitled to prolly entered into the mental breakdown.

Has anything been said about his employment? Still working last 6 months? Job performance plummet? Starting to unravel career wise?

In Maryland, you can stay on your parents' health insurance plan until you're 29

If you have existing health insurance, it will likely cover you if you get sick or injured in Hawaii

It’s been about a decade since I’ve been dealing with coverage shit but it doesn’t look like much has changed. I checked on the above and it is what I thought. In every state you can stay on your parent’s plan until 26 under federal law and many states have passed additional waiver up until your 30th birthday. This has nothing to do with being part of the “household”. You don’t have to live with your parents to qualify. Coverage extends to Hawaii/Alaska under most plans.

One would think being from a wealthy family he did have coverage under his parent’s plan. Especially due to the fact he went to both college and graduate school. I would find it hard to believe he didn’t have coverage under his parent’s plan.

Now, being a poker player there were alot of guys who didn’t have coverage when they were his age. If that were the case then things could have gotten a little messy. What you don’t want to happen is a major problem like this back issue to arise. Acute sickness technically means the provider must administer care to the uninsured until they are deemed stable.

Typically something like someone has Luekemia and goes to the emergency room asking for chemotherapy is considered “acute”. If uninsured it will always be a bit of a fight, but if his condition is considered “acute” then by law they would have to provide the treatment. Obviously there is plenty of gray area here.

    But the problem for this gindaloon, if he indeed didn’t have insurance at first, would be twofold;

1)It’s unlikely a back surgery would be considered necessary treatment for an acute illness. If he somehow did get the surgery done while uninsured and still was in pain…he is basically out of luck at this point. Pain management (drugs) was probably the only road forward.

2)Not sure with Obamacare because it was done right after my time but he would probably run into issues if he went to buy insurance after being diagnosed with the back issue. If he was trying to have additional surgeries and had bought a plan on the exchange after diagnosis, there certainly would be coverage issues.

But I do think this is all probably moot. If I had to wager he did have insurance and his back was just fucked. The surgery probably didn’t help much and he was destined to treat with a combo of painkillers and physical therapy the rest of his life.

Tbh it’s more likely the surgeon did a shitty job than the insurance company caused any real problems for me. But killing the surgeon is not going after the “system”. Killing a Health Insurer CEO is going after the “system”. Even though given all I wrote about I highly doubt the insurance company had anything to do with what happened to this fucker’s back.

Just to add this is where medical insurance and all other insurance is different. When they were debating Obamacare they talked about “Guarantee Issue” and covering pre-existing conditions. Now you can’t by fire insurance on a building while it’s burning to the ground. You can’t buy car insurance while you are in your car after just causing a 8 car pile-up.

But “Gaurantee Issue” really means you should be able to buy insurance while you are in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. It’s part of why private health insurance is never going to work well and it’s such a clusterfuck. So because of all these protections that force insurers to insure the sick, in order to be profitable they get subsidies, the delay claims and the deny legitimate claims. It sucks but it’s the way things are right now.

That’s all I got. I will be interested to learn what his medical insurance status was.

Sounds like he had Uhc and doc prolly wanted to do revision surgery and they denied due to prior condition or not agreeing with improving his condition.

Def not the surgeon. If so, he would have gone after him.

Having the right orthopedic surgeon for any major musculoskeletal issue is sooooooo important. Do your homework it will make the difference between being functional and disability.

I recommend what I had, a trauma surgeon with tonsss of experience. It is solely his expertise that I walk most all the time pain free when going in did not look good.
