Always had a special appeal with the buffet (shout-out thempudding), video games, and they all had this jukebox:

You would be extremely disappointed. There are around 17 left but that changes by the day. Google some reviews for a good laugh or cry. They were sold a few years ago to some Indian dude who tapped the company for everything and ran it into the ground. They stiffed vendors, landlords and even employees. New Jersey closed them down a couple years ago for not paying employees.

It got so bad at the ones here in Florida the employee told me they were buying food from the Publix deli multiple times a day to sell as the cash came in.

But at one point in time they were the shit but those days are long gone and I doubt there will any left within a year. Actually had Thanksgiving dinner from there while traveling years ago.
Yes I doubt I could find a functional one. But I did enjoy them long ago. Last I ate at one was in Coral Gables Miami/Miracle Mile (i think thats the area it was called). I remember it being still very good, and this was around 2011-2012, haven't seen anything Boston Market other than bullshit frozen tv dinners at the walmart. I eve remember when it was Boston Chicken lol!!!!!!!!!

My favorite Burger Chef memory was hitting one as a kid while on vacation in Florida. My dad got burger and after a couple bites realized there was no burger in it. For some reason I have found memories of the place probably because I never forgot that visit.

Hardee’s bought them out in the 90’s and still occasionally brings back the Big Shef as a limited time item. The Big Shef was their attempt at a Big Mac.

Burger Chef and his sidekick Jeff were the mascots.

Bob Evans is shuttering stores all over the place and the investment group has a for sale sign on them. I have been to Bob Evans many of times, but what crippled their operations is when the grocery division spun off as a separate company (which is a cash cow), which forced the restaurant chain to be self sufficient. The quality has just gone downhill. But the real culprit is the Love's, Pilot, Flying J phenomenon. They have Dennys, McDonalds and now even IHOPs connected to them. This dramatically saves on real estate costs, and it's just more convenient for the traveling consumer. Plus, in today's economy, its just not realistic to expect a family of 4 to spend $70 (with tip) at a Bob Evans, when you can run through a McDonalds driver thru and spend $25. I'd be shocked if they make it to the end of the decade. I went into one over the summer for lunch and the place was a 1/3rd full, meanwhile the Chick Fil A across the street had a line with literally 50 cars deep. I got some type of turkey and mashed potato plate, with tip it was $22. It was fine but I could have got a chicken sandwich at a drive thru for $5 and saved 45 minutes. BE just outlived its usefulness in a changing economy, society.

How the FUCK is a family of 4 eating at McDonald’s for $25 in 2024? Sharing a couple burgers and asking for water cups?

It's been going on for months now and going into 2025. Double burger or chicken sandwich, 4 nuggets, fries and a coke for $5. You are right, I had the wrong price, with tax more like $21.60 for a family of 4.

Another oldie we had in PA was Gino’s Hamburgers. The Gino’s Giant was their main offering. They were named and partially owned by a former Baltimore Colt Gino Marchetti. Gino’s was also a KFC franchise and sold their chicken. Gino’s had over 300 stores before Marriott bought them and turned them into Roy Roger’s, tying into the post above by Garrett.

The food really did suck. And I got dragged there every time in some group thing like you said. Somone would say Buca Di Peppo and I would cringe as it was always some work thing for myself or my ex wife and you'd end up with some fat people you would never touch always wanting to order the shareable shitty Italian dishes with a bunch of gross people all digging into some community dish like you were dining with your family.

I recall when it was my wife's work shit, because her office was right next to one, I got to the point I would say I have food allergies and order some shit for myself, but you would always get that guy who knew you were full of shit and start side-eyeing you because he knew you really just didn't want to stick your fork into the same garbage that him and his fat wife were eating. He wasn't wrong. Fucking wish Covid had hit back then and killed the place off.

Last time I was there, and it was recently, you could tell they were going under. Just this gigantic bowl of noodles with giant chunks of meat. Here is the bonus, it was like luke warm. I literally had some garlic bread and that was about it. My wife is the least pickiest eater ever and she just passed. 9pm for the first time I can remember at night we went through the McDonalds drive thru at night. Nuggets, yes, nuggets.

Something else, I ordered a wine, the fucking thing was not even 4 ounces. I was like WTF, the waitress said that was the way the pour them and walked off. I did not make a big deal, what are you going to do, go crazy in front of bunch of people? The quicker this place goes under the better. That wine was $9 btw.

Think they died of prices too low. They used to have a special when my kid was young adult meal with beverage and small sundae was 9.99 and kid ate free including drink and sundae. 0.0 chance of making money doing this.
I can say with a great deal of confidence every restaurant itt that went outy of business is because of private equity.

It's weird how many lackeys they have inm the media that covers up their scam.
    Friendly's prices too low
Red Lobster too much all you can eat Shrimp
Toys r us didn't do enough to compete online
That last one is one of their favorite excuses.

'In 2007, Sun Capital Partners bought Friendly's for $337.2 million.
Friendly's filed for bankruptcy twice under Sun Capital's ownership.'

One would assume Sun Capital Partners lost their ass, nope I'm sure it was very profitable.
This is their business model, rob and destroy.
